Magnolia is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Weston, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Magnolia was platted in 1887 and named for magnolia tree growth in the area. The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) has been serving Magnolia since 1907. The MVFD was organized as a separate entity from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office on October 1, 1907. Magnolia is located at (36.866667, -92.566667). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 511 people, 187 households, and 132 families residing in the town. The population density was 914.4 people per square mile (357.2/km²). Magnolia is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,874 at the 2010 census. Magnolia was founded on October 25, 1881 by settlers from Georgia and Alabama. The town was named for Magnolia Plantation near Atlanta. The first post office in Magnolia was established on February 14, 1882. It later changed its name to Fort Smith and then to Magnolia in 1886. In 1916, the townsite ofMagnolia and parts of the surrounding rural area were combined to form a new municipality called Northville. On April 7, 1937, Northville merged with neighboring Pine Bluff to form another new municipality called Magnolia-Pine Bluff-Northville. In 1955, the town trustees recommended that Magnolia be renamed after Sarah Churchill Flowers Ingram because she had helped contribute $10,000 towards the purchase of a high school gymnasium and other school improvements in nearby Pine Bluff. The name change became official on July 4 that year when Governor Jumbo Price signed an act naming the town after Sarah Churchill Flowers Ingram. Since its establishment as a small community in 1881, Magnolia has experienced many changes within its boundaries: it has become one of the most cosmopolitan communities inArkansas; it has seen growth due to its location on Arkansas's eastern border with Missouri; and it has seen significant gentrification over time as more people move into its growing downtown district.
