The history of coffee in Maumelle, Arkansas begins with a Dutch immigrant named Hermanus de Wit. De Wit established a small farm in what is now the city of Maumelle in 1795. He began to grow coffee beans and selling them from his farm until 1828 when he moved his business to the current location on Main Street. In 1851, J.P. Morin started trading goods at the corner of Main and State Streets and soon became one of the leading merchants in town. He grew coffee beans himself and also manufactured sugar beets, flour, soap, candles, bricks and other products. After Morin's death in 1865, his son-in-law, Flemming Voris took over his business operation until it was sold to George Hirschfeld in 1902. Hirschfeld continued to operate it until it was bought by the city of Maumelle in 1959. The present day incarnation of Coffee House Café features solely coffee sales as its focus while existing buildings on Main Street were used for other purposes during this time (e.g., post office).
Maumelle, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 5,737 at the 2010 census. The name means "place of the moccasin plants." Maumelle was founded in 1870 by Fayetteville settlers and named for General John C. Maumelle. The first post office in Maumelle was established in 1871. In 1907, the community became an incorporated town. The townsite was developed on the east side of US 21, south of Saint James Baptist Church. The original shopping center and other buildings were destroyed by a tornado in 1974 but a new shopping center has been built since then on the west side of US 21 near Interstate 70 and Highway 35W. In 2000, Maumelle had a total value of $2 million dollars as economic development spending by local businesses increased from $5 million to $10 million over that year alone. A large part of this increase came from construction of I-70/35W which will connect downtown with rural areas to the north and west while also providing access to major shopping malls within minutes' driving distance for residents along I-70/35W. A recent project undertaken by the town government is an addition to its public library system called "The Library Connection" which will provide more than 400 full-time jobs when it is completed in 2019 and serve as a central library for all aspects of civic life including education, research and information technology services to neighboring municipalities as well as larger county libraries across Pulaski County. This project is expected to cost between $50 million and $60 million with initial funding available through state budgets until 2023 totaling approximately $120 million over 10 years with future monies set aside specifically for better connection between libraries statewide

Maumelle was founded in 1866 by John A. Maumelle and his wife, Sarah Jane. The town served as a community for the surrounding rural area until it was discontinued in 1913 due to lack of population. The town’s only resident was John A. Maumelle until he passed away in 1907. The first post office in Maumelle opened on July 1, 1866, and remained open until 1895. The first store opened on October 15, 1867, and continued to operate until it closed in 1916. In 1870, the first school was built and operated for three years before being closed due to financial difficulties. In 1912, the second school was built and operated for five years before it also closed due to financial difficulties. In 1915, the Arkansas Legislature designated Maumelle as the county seat of Pulaski County based on a recommendation from Governor James Kenedy. The designation did not count toward the number of residents that were required to establish a county government under Arkansas law at that time; instead, Pulaski County established its own government under this designation without having any contact with Maumelle officials or residents. On January 1st of 1922, following an act approved by the Arkansas General Assembly which changed the name of Pulaski County from Grant County toMaumelle County,[1]Maumelle became one of four counties within Pulaski County[2]and ceased being an unincorporated community.[3] Since its establishment as a municipality in 1913 (following an act approved by the Arkansas General Assembly),Maumelle has experienced numerous changes both inside and outside of its borders:
The town of Maumelle, Arkansas was founded in 1871 by a group of Texans called the "Mormon Battalion." The town quickly grew and became an important center for the cotton industry.Maumelle was also known as the "Cotton Capital of the World" due to its large amount of cotton production. In 1930, Maumelle was renamed Marshall County after Major General George Marshall, who had played a significant role in developing America's postwar reconstruction policies.
