From the time that the United States Air Force was formed in 1947, airmen have been stationed at various bases throughout the country. In Mountain Home, Arkansas, it began with a small detachment of Air National Guard personnel who were stationed at Hill Air Force Base. The base was later used as an RAF station and from there, detachments of USAF rotated through the area untilactivated in 1957. The first deployed gift to be sent by the USAF was a radar set to monitor military airspace in Korea. This gift was sent as a way of Thank You to American forces for their support during World War II. The USAF also shipped food parcels and toys back to Japan following the war. When Hill AFB closed its doors in 1969, the AFB Training Wing assumed control over Mountain Home AFB which served as both a training ground and mobilization center for the Arkansas National Guard units that had been assigned to Hill AFB prior to its closure. The wing operated from here until it was disbanded in 1991 when all Army Reserve units were consolidated into one organization calledtheArmy National Guard Bureau (ANG). After ANG unification, Mountain Home became an inactive duty military installation again until 1995 when it reopened as an Air National Guard Base under civilian management with itself being home to three KC-135 tankers which provided fuel for guard aircraft operations around town and on adjacent ranges. With this new arrangement came increased security measures including 24/7 armed guards on site and full airfield access restrictions ensuring that no unauthorized person or object could enter or leave without proper identification. In 2001, after years of renovation and modernization costing $15 million dollars, Mountain Home AFB opened its doors once again to serve all members of the public who are now allowed unrestricted access inside and outside of its walls! Today, Mountain Home is known not only as an active duty military installation but also as one of Arkansas' most popular tourist destinations!
The United States Air Force deployed a gift to an air force installation in Afghanistan on Christmas. The gift was a Boeing 727 cargo plane that had been modified with an unusual feature, two Ryanair-branded seats for the military's top brass. The plane had been chartered by the airline and delivered to the airfield in eastern Afghanistan by U.S. Special Forces troops who used it as part of a secret offensive against Islamist insurgents. The special forces commanders who flew the plane were from the 5th Special Forces Group, which is based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. According to one source, the pilots who flew the plane "were some of America’s best." They were veterans of Operation Neptune Spear, which was conducted in December 2001 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, which was seeking to overthrow Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The aircraft also carried members of senior Afghan government officials and their families as well as U.S., British and Italian military personnel responsible for training and advising Afghan forces on counterinsurgency operations.

Mountain Home, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–West Little Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mountain Home was founded in 1881 by J.L. Mountain and his wife, Sarah Knight Mountain. The first post office in Mountain Home was established in 1887. In 1923, the name of the town changed to honor Mrs. George Hines Hill, who had been governor of Arkansas from 1907 to 1911 and then U.S. senator from 1913 to 1921. In 1951, a water tower and pipeline were built through Mountain Home to provide water for residents of North Little Rock and West Little Rocktowns then located in San Miguel County north of Interstate 20 (now I-40). The first school in Mountain Home opened in 1865 as a one-room school near present day milepost 316 on what is now US 56/US 71W (the present day AR 359 road) just east of downtown Mountain Home. A two-room school was erected on what is now US 56/US 71W (the present day AR 359 road) northeast of downtown mountain home soon after and the final building that still stands today became known as “Old Main” School which served grades 1-9 until it closed during World War II due to shortage of classrooms available for students outside military barracks being construction nearby at that time inside Fort Smith civilian airport site used by Army Air Service Flying Training Command as an auxiliary airfield during World War II providing much needed airspace above Ft Smith for American bombers flying training missions over South Central Arkansas until 1945 when aircraft began landing at White Sands Proving Ground south sideof Road Rd leading into Ft Smith Municipal Airport Close encounter with another airplane while landing #1 ground controller said "You're not going any further" Pilot replied "I am not" pilot continued landings coming down very low over Race Track getting almost upon ground controllers head he called "and pull up" All three airplanes stopped when they hit big tree right next to runway center line Tree remained standing after all 3 planes departures having impacted it caused major damage & collapse remains today visible looking southeast from Old Main propertylooks toward Race Track field remaining today

Mountain Home is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–South Little Rock, AR metropolitan area. The town was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1868 as an outpost on the western edge of what would become Arkansas. By 1880 it had grown to over 1,000 people and became a center for their local agricultural industry. In 1903 Mountain Home was made an incorporated municipality with a mayor and four council members. In 1922 the mill went out of business and in 1930 the post office closed; however, due to its position near the center of Pulaski County, Mountain Home continued to be a commercial center for many years after that. On October 16, 1993, Mountainhome voters passed a resolution approving incorporation as an unincorporated community within Pulaski County. The citizens of MountainHome voted 3-to-1 to keep their community separate from North Little Rock and South Little Rock while still being considered part of those cities under city charter formulation by Pulaski County commissioners; however this arrangement only lasted until 2003 when they were forced to merge into those cities under state law due to lack of approval from the county commissioners Today Mountain Home continues its unique history as an unincorporated community with its own government which operates according to village laws rather than through city charters like other towns in Pulaski County
