The trial of Solomon Pineycroft began on July 12, 1907 and ended on August 9, 1907 when Pineycroft was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Mountain Home was founded in 1872 by Levi Coffin and his wife Nancy in what is now Arkadelphia Township. A post office called Mountain Home was established in 1873, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1905. In 1915 the town incorporated as a municipality. The community experienced significant growth during World War II with the construction of the Arkansas National Guard Base (later known as Fort Chaffin) and other related functions within its boundaries. However, after the war ended the population decreased significantly due to many veterans moving away or dying from various causes over the ensuing years. In 1987 Mountain Home became part of an enlarged Little Rock metropolitan area which included NorthLittleRockand SouthLittleRock along with 14 other towns throughout southern Arkansas
