In Mountain Home, Arkansas, small batch coffee has been a part of the community for over fifty years. The first small batch coffee shop in the town was opened in 1951 by two friends, Harry and John Mueller. The shop was located on Main Street and served local residents until 1969 when it closed due to health concerns. The first smallbatch coffee beans were roasted by Donny Westphal at his farm near Mountain Home. Donny's beans were hand-selected and sun-dried before they were packaged and shipped to Mountain Home. In 1984, Bob Murchison opened the first large-scale smallbatch coffee roasting business in the area. Bob's Coffee Roasters was located on State Road 7 south of Mountain Home and made whole bean coffees from start to finish. The store offered a wide variety of products including espresso drinks, decaf blends, pastas, desserts, etc. Mountain Home's large-scale smallbatch coffee roaster remains today as B & H Coffee Company with three stores across Arkansas: one in Fayetteville; one in Little Rock; one in Springdale. Their mission is to support local businesses with quality roasted goods that are available only at their stores

The first post office in Mountain Home was established on December 8, 1882. The present-day town of Mountain Home was founded by settlers from Vermont in 1884 and named for Mount Holly, Vermont. In 1907 the name of the post office changed to Mountain Home because of its elevation above Little Rock and Arkadelphia. On July 1, 1912, the Arkansas General Assembly passed an act that designated Pulaski County as the site for a new county seat. Monticello was chosen as the new county seat and Mountain Home became its temporary capital until September 25 when Pulaski County officials moved to Little Rock. On February 2, 1916 an act passed by the Arkansas General Assembly change mountain home's status from a small town to a city with a charter dated November 3rd that year On January 4th of each year since 1959 there has been an " Annual Citizen's Festival" which includes several cultural events including trade shows/fairs/clothing demos etc., parade on Main Street Streetsboro & Highland Avenue and fireworks display over White Sands Missile Range

In 1907, the town incorporated and prosed its name to Mountain Home after being designated as one of 10 towns in Pulaski County that year by state Legislator John H. Bryant. In 1912, mountain home had a population of 350 and supplied groceries and services to other small towns in the region. By 1928, when it became an agricultural center with over 50 businesses, mountainhome had become one of the most important cotton farming communities in Arkansas. In 1940, during World War II, Mountain Home served as an airfield for training pilots for service within the USAAF (AAF). In 1948–1949—the height of rural flight activity in Arkansas—MountainHome saw more than 2 million passenger trips on local airlines; this number has since decreased slightly but remain high enough to be considered significant given that aerial travel at that time limited itself largely to flying military planes or freight between larger urban centers like Memphis and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. 1 524 people lived here according to2010 Census
