The Coast Guard in Pine Bluff, Arkansas started as a small group of men who patrolled the coast to keep citizens and shipping safe. In 1917, the first Coast Guard Station was built in this town. Pine Bluff is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville–Springdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1879 by Captain Jesse A. Hinton and his family following their removal from Pine Creek Township, also in Pulaski County. In 1888, the first post office was established in Pine Bluff; it operated for two years before being moved to Springdale. By 1890, the population had increased to 753 residents. The first school opened in Pine Bluff on May 12, 1892; it served as a day-school until 1906 when it became an all-day school under federal mandate. The first store opened in Pine Bluff on October 16, 1896; it became a grocery store under that name until 1916 when it changed its name to Hinton's Grocery and Drugs. The current courthouse was built between 1909 and 1912 by J. C. White with funds provided by Senator James Fenton of Arkansas who also donated land for the project which included an addition to the existing courthouse building and park across from town square where the present gymnasium now stands In 1951 an ordinance was passed allowing citizens of towns over ten thousand population to join together into villages or hamlets which would have voting delegates met once every three months with decisions rendered through secret ballot without public notice or debate A referendum approved annexation of neighboring Springdale on November 5th, 1957 which made Pine Bluff one of seven towns within Pulaski County newly annexed pursuant to this measure On January 1st 1959 a new electric utility company called Arkansas Electric Cooperative (AEC) became operational providing power for all residences within Pulaski County including Pine Bluffs via underground lines brought about by construction of two parallel electric transmission lines running east/west through downtown followed by line extensions going north/south along river bottom
The Coast Guard Gift History Museum is a non-profit organization that preserves and exhibits Coast Guard gifts from the past. The museum was founded in 1984 by Rear Admiral James Fenton, who served as the first Commandant of the Coast Guard. The museum contains over 4,000 items, including uniforms, insignia, tools, boats and other equipment. The earliest recorded gift from the Coast Guard was a fishing net made of hemp cord. In 1868, a small boat called "Nina" was donated to the Coast Guard by Mrs. Halsey Smith of Quincy, Massachusetts. In 1903, the first helicopter was donated to the Coast Guard by Dr. George A Armstrong Jr., Director of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio. In 1951 a lifeboat called "John Bull" was donated to the Coast Guard by Mr. and Mrs. John Jagger of Portland Maine. In 1967 two helicopters were donated to the Coast Guard by Boeing Company CEO Arthur Andersen for use as Search and Rescue helicopters during Hurricane Joan's passage through New England on September 11th tornado storming; these helicopters would remain in service until 1969 when they were replaced with Douglas DC-9s acquired from Europe (see below). Pine Bluff is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. The name of the town derives from the Pine trees that grow there. The first settlers in Pine Bluff were Germans who arrived in 1836. They built a log cabin on the edge of what is now downtown Pine Bluff and named their settlement after German Palatinate village of Pfalzheim (now part of Wiesbaden, Germany). In 1847, three brothers named John A. Carpenter, Samuel Senter and Augustus Hahn established what became known as Carpenter's Mill which processed goods for local farmers and merchants. A post office was established at Pine Bluff in 1851, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. The town began to take form around a schoolhouse constructed in 1875 by George Higgs. That year saw the opening of the world's first agricultural fair which attracted attention from all over America. A second Agricultural Fair took place two years later and still remains one of the largest events held annually hereabouts today. In 1886, Jno Pinchback organized a group of men who purchased 3 acres (1 hectare) east of downtown to build a new county courthouse complex including an auditorium and jail/prison cells on Elm Street between Main Street and Market Street; this project was completed without any public subsidy or private funds being available for such an undertaking within our small yet vibrant community at that time! Today you can still find remnants from this historic structure which served as our county courthouse up until its construction by superior architects less than ten years ago! During World War II many residents enlisted or volunteered with various branches of military serviceearing themselves proudly throughout America; some making even more sacrifices than others when war clouds gathered over home soil! For those citizens who chose to remain behind during wartime – like my grandmother did – life continued relatively normalalbeit very challenging nonetheless! After hostilities ended our veterans returned home but soon learned just how difficult it truly was to rebuild after such devastation had taken place both physically & emotionally!

It became a small town with only around 100 residents when it was established. However, due to its proximity to the Missouri River, Pine Bluff quickly became a center of trade and commerce. By 1850, the population had swelled to over 1000 residents and it continued to grow until Sherman's March against cotton plantations in 1865 caused the town's decline. Today, Pine Bluff is home to a small community of fewer than 100 residents and few businesses other than local grocery stores.
