There is a long and varied history of the national guard in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The first organization to be formed in the town was the Volunteer Militia Association, which was organized on November 1, 1872. This group of men volunteered to help protect the town during its early years. In 1874, a new militia battalion was organized and named for General James Fenton, who had served as military governor of Arkansas from 1865-1868. The battalion played an important role in suppressing a local uprising that took place in 1875. The Battalion also fought at the Battle of Little Rock on October 16th, 1875. In 1902, the National Guard Armory was constructed in Pine Bluff. This building became home to many different organizations over the years including both county militias and state militias. It is through this armory that many veterans have been able to receive their military service medals and other insignia. Finally, on September 6th, 1967, Governor Bill Clinton issued orders ordering all state militias across Arkansas to disband due to budget cuts announced by Lyndon Johnson later that year. However, these orders were not fully implemented until 1969 when they were revised under Governor John Anderson’s administration. As a result of this changeover, most Moran Countystate militias still exist today although some have been disbanded or merged into other organizations over time

The Arkansas National Guard was activated in Pine Bluff on November 3, 1903. The first unit to arrive in town was the 156th Infantry Regiment. The regiment had been mobilization for World War I and had not come back to full strength since the end of hostilities. Upon its activation, the regiment became part of the 8th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Division, Arkansas National Guard. In late 1943, the brigade became a battalion of the 188th Infantry Regiment. This regiment had also mobilization for World War II and originally consisted of Companies F-2 (Dyersburg), G-1 (Fayetteville) and H-3 (Little Rock). However, due to manpower shortages within Arkansas at that time, all three companies were assigned to Company D (Pine Bluff) from February 1 through April 30 of 1944 as part of Army Ground Forces Europe’s Third Allied General Assembly Plan No. 2 program which called for army units in France and Belgium to be reorganized into brigades under combat commands with headquarters located near large population centers so that service members could better support their local communities by providing essential services such as medical care and law enforcement. Company D remained attached to First Brigade Combat Team 4th Infantry Division - United States Army European Theater during 1945 when it participated in Operation Overlord which led up to American victory over Nazi Germany at Market Garden on September 15, 1945. After liberation from Nazi Germany Company D returned home on October 16; however they were redesignated Headquarters/5th Battalion 7th Armor Regiment effective October 24 Replacement Unit Camp Johnson Post #6014]
Pine Bluff is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,977 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The name Pine Bluff comes from the fact that many of the trees in the town were planted near where military cannons were used to fire on Confederate forces during the American Civil War.

When World War II began, there were only 2,000 men in the United States National Guard. Pine Bluff, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. It is located on the Arkansas River and was founded in 1871 by white settlers. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. Pine Bluff is the county seat of Pulaski County. The first post office for Pine Bluff was established in 1872, and it remained in operation until 1907. The current post office building was built in 1922 and replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by fire. Pine Bluff has a nicknames which include "The Big White House" because of its large number of buildings from this time period including the courthouse, jail, schools and churches all built with white money. In 1915 the town became home to World War I veterans when General John Jumper donated land to house these troops. As part of the Prisonerof War Administration Act of 1917 Congress passed legislation creating Specialty Camps for soldiers held as prisoners-of-war outside the United States giving local residents permission to build homes for these men and their families. Camp James Atherton opened here on December 3rd 1918 and housed over 4,000 American soldiers who were held prisoner during World War I Another nickname given to Pine Bluff during this time period may have been given because many people believed that snake oil salesmen from nearby Little Rock would use this area as a training ground for new salespeople since there was no other town within driving distance of Little Rock that could offer such services (due to its location on top of a mountain). This area also served as a place where actors and actresses would do battle scenes or take breaks between takes while shooting movies near Little Rock
Pine Bluff, Arkansas was founded in 1881 by J.D. Pine and his family. The town became a railroad center after the completion of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1901. In 1905, Pine Bluff was renamed for General Ulysses S. Grant because of the general's visit to the area during that year's presidential election campaign. In 1930, the town post office was moved from its original location on Topeka Street to its current location on West Main Street. Pine Bluff is home to many cultural attractions, including the Arkansas State Capitol, which is one of only two state capitols in United States history with an interior design by Frank Lloyd Wright. Other popular tourist destinations include President George Washington University's Galleries of Fine Arts and Historic White House Museum.
