Air Force gift history in Rogers, Arkansas goes back to World War II when General James D. Evans activated the Rogers Municipal Airport as a military airfield. The airport was named for Colonel John W. Rogers who donated land to the city of Rogers in 1924. The airport served as a general aviation facility until it was closed in 1941 due to the war. After the war, the airport was used as an overflow hangar for Army Air Forces bombers and later became a civilian airstrip when Evansactivated it again in 1948. In 1957, the airport was renamed for General Curtis LeMay who had commanded American forces during the Korean War and then served as Air Force Chief of Staff from 1964-1967. From 1967 until 1969, the airport served as an air force training base with 367th Tactical Fighter Wing being operational there from 1966-1969. In 1970, ownership ofRogers Municipal Airport passed to the city which reopened it as an open-air runway on December 1st after spending $1 million making improvements including new asphalt pavements and new taxiways that allowed aircraft access without prior clearance from Air Force headquarters in Little Rock. On July 1st, 2002,the last USAF detachment leftRogers Municipal Airport when B-2 Spirit aircraft of 339th Bombardment Wing departed to participate in Operation Northern Watch over North pole National Wildlife Refuge). The first commercial airline service at Rogers Municipal Airport was US Airways Express which started operations on November 12th, 1929 services arriving from Memphis and Nashville Tennessee using Lockheed L-719 Constellations operated by US Airways Limited out of Dallas/Ft Worth Texas (later United Airlines). As USAirways grew their network they substituted Lockheed L-829 Neptunes with Boeing 727 passenger jetliners starting on May 15th 1930 operating out of Newark Liberty International Airport (now Weehawken Terminal) New Jersey using American Eagle Lines Boeing 727 Freighters providing passenger service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (then Midway Field) before US Airways merged with Pan Am Pacific Aeronautical Corporation on October 24th 1946 becoming American Overseas Airlines Corporation serving Honolulu Kaimuki Station located about 25 miles northeast of downtown Honolulu serving both domestic and international flights direct from several airports around Asia via Clark Field outside Honolulu also serving Guam through Andersen AFB near Guam Island and Eniwetok Atoll off Cook Islandsserving those planes directly or via Pago Pago Island & Samoa respectively Hawaii: On November 13th 1947 Hawaiian Electric Co., Ltd began operations flying Douglas DC-3's into Kahului Regional Jetport using Bellanca 210A Constellations operated by Hawaii Southern Airlines Inc.. These flights were connecting with other airlines operating out of Maui–Kahului Regional Jetport however all fares were fixed at $0.50 per mile excluding taxes & surcharges etc... The first flight took off from Kahului Regional Jetport at 07:00 UTC bound for Hilo International Airport but failed to reach its destination due to poor weather conditions over Kaua’i Island... A second flight took off from Kahului Regional Jetport approximately 10 minutes later enroute to Hilo International Airport but this time successfully reached its destination! Hawaiian Electric Co., Ltd ultimately ceased operation at Kahului Regional Jetport due primarily to competition from United Airlines which began offering more competitive fares! Hawaii Southern Airlines Inc.: This company commenced operations flying Douglas DC-3s into Ka’ū County town Pearl Harbor utilizing Bellanca 210A Constellations operated by Hawaiian Southern Airlines Inc.. These flights were connecting with other airlines operating out of Hawai’i – Haleakala National Park & Waimea Bay – however all fares were fixed at $0.50 per mile excluding taxes & surcharges etc... The first flight took off from Pearl Harbor at 07:00 UTC bound for Lahaina but failed to reach its destinationdue to bad weather conditions over Kaua’i Island... A second flight took off approximately 10 minutes later enroute towards Lahaina but this time successfully reached its destination! Hawaiian Southern Airlines Inc ultimately ceased operation at Pearl Harbor due primarily to competition from United Airlines which began offering more competitive fares!

The Arkansas Air National Guard was formed in 1947 and became the 126th Fighter Wing on 1 July 1948. The wing was redesignated as the 326th Fighter Wing on 9 October 1949. The 326 FW activated at Beale AFB, California on 25 November 1951 and flew its first combat mission, a bombing mission over Japan, during the Korean War. On 28 December 1951, the wing moved to Kunming AB, Yunnan China where it underwent conversion to F-86E Sabres. On 1 March 1954, the wing reverted to its original name of the Arkansas Air National Guard 126th Fighter Wing when it relocated from Beale AFB to Randolph AFB in Texas. It became part of Tactical Air Command (TAC) on 15 August 1957 when TAC was reorganized under United States Department of Defense Unified Combatant Commands structure. Inactivated on 8 May 1962 when all elements were transferred to Continental United States Air Forces (CONUS) under I Bomber Command control as part of MasterCard System Operation Force/Air offensive against Cuba which lasted until 26 January 1963.
Rogers, Arkansas is a small town in the Ozarks of central Arkansas. It was founded in 1871 and named for General Rogers, an American general who fought in the Mexican-American War. The community has a population of around 2,500 people. Rogers is located at 33°15′N 93°40′W, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Little Rock and 30 miles (48 km) west of Arkadelphia. The ZIP code for Rogers is 82015. The town was first settled by farmers from Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1871, General Rogers donated land to the town for its founding. The name Rogers comes from his military service in that war. The post office was first established in 1880 and served until it was discontinued in 1935. In 1907, a school was built and named for General Rogers. That same year, the first grocery store opened in the town. Rogers has two churches - First Presbyterian and Baptist - as well as one elementary school and one middle school which serve students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade . Mrs. Rogers served on various city councils and she also helped to organize local agricultural societies which promoted agricultural improvement within the community. Her husband John also served as mayor of Rogers from 1911-1920 and he was also influential in religious matters within the community.
