Rogers is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 927 at the 2010 census. Rogers is located on U.S. Route 66, about 12 miles (19 km) east of Little Rock and about 20 miles (32 km) south of Fayetteville. It lies within the Little Rock–Fayetteville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Rogers were white men who arrived there in 1851 from Illinois, as part of the Benton Expedition to explore the Ozark Mountains and area around Fort Smith and striking gold near present-day Bryant City. The community was organized on February 15, 1855 by James Giddings, Sr., one of the original founders of Fayetteville; it had been platted as Ironton two years earlier. In 1860, Rogers became one of the towns in Pulaski County when it was created from parts of three other counties: Washington County (southwest), Stone Counties (northwest), and Pulaski County (east). Rogers’s history begins with its location on what is now US 66 just east of Little Rock; that same year, a group of entrepreneurs led by John Pemberton founded what would become Mid-America Telephone Company outposts along that route to provide telephone service to local farmers and ranchers. By 1903 US 66 had been extended northwestward to include Rogers; concurrent with this extension, US 66 changed its name to Arkansas Highway 16 to reflect its new status as an important transportation corridor connecting Southwest Missouri with Northwest Arkansas and all points west across America. In 1961, when Pulaski County merged into Arkansas Statehood,[1] Rogers became one of the first cities in the state to be incorporated.[2] As an agricultural center for much of its early history – until becoming largely residential during recent decades –Rogers has seen a significant influx over time of people associated with professional or business pursuits outside agriculture or government services: industry has replaced agriculture as the predominant economic force here since World War II[3]; however some residents still practice agriculture as their primary source income stream[4]. Today's residents are made up primarily among working age adults; families make up only a minority according to 2001 census figures[5], while single resident households totalled just 2% during 2000[6]. While no Comprehensive Plan has yet been released for Rogers,[7] preliminary reports suggest that many city amenities such as parks and libraries will continue serving occupants well into the 21st century given projected growth rates therein[8].

Rogers, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Rogers is located on the east bank of the Arkansas River between Piney Woods and Conway. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rogers has been inhabited by Native American tribes for over two centuries. In 1814, the French explorer Jacques Cartier named Rogers after General James Rogers who had led their expedition to what is now Canada in 1794-1795. The first European settler in present-day Rogers was George Witherspoon who arrived in 1839. He built a cabin on the current site ofRogers Academy which he named "Witherspoon's Garden". A post office called Rogers was established in 1880, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1914. In 1907, developers Harry Jorgensen and Willis Wistar bought 256 acres (119 ha) north of town from Caddo Chief Lew Wallace for $1 million dollars (). They formed Wistar Oil Company and began drilling for oil on what would become known as Wistar Field #2 (). By 1911, 20 wells had been drilled; however, only three production licenses were issued due to low oil prices (). In 1916(), Jorgensen sold his interest to Harry Fenton () who developed further field operations with assistance from John Dreyer (); production reached 710 barrels per day (bpd) by 1922 but then decreased to 350 bpd due to renewed competition from Texas City Refinery (). The first store opened in Rogers on Main Street in 1917 (), serving residents of Conway and parts of Piney Woods . In 1927 (), grocery delivery became available from Dunbar Truck Stop (); this service continued until 1959 when it was replaced by local Route 66 truck service . By 1941(), only four businesses still operated within town limits: one grocery store, two churches (Congregationalist and Methodist), and one barbershop (). Army Air Forces Base Camp Robinson () served as an important military center during World War II (), providing access to nearby towns such as Piney Woods and Conway while also hosting other activities such as fighter aircraft storage yards or assembly plants for Lockheed Hudson bombers .) After war ended, many businesses closed down or changed hands; however one business which continued operation until around 2006 was Holiday Inn Express . At that time there were only 35 people living withintown limits., making it a very small community with few services available outside its borders
