The National Guard in Siloam Springs, Arkansas has been present since 1903. The first unit to be organized was the Company K of the Arkansas National Guard on May 9, 1903. The unit was disbanded on July 1, 1912. The next unit to be formed was Company F of the Arkansas National Guard on October 5, 1912. The unit was disbanded on December 10, 1916. On January 1, 1917 the United States Congress created the First Infantry Division (ARNG) and placed it under control of the Army Service Forces. On March 15th Lieutenant Colonel J C Weaver became commander of Company A ARNG and Companies G and H were activated from among units in Companies A and B into First Infantry Division (ARNG). On May 3rd Captain John W Nutting became commanding officer for Company I ARNG which had been detached from Companies G and H and re-activated at Fort Smith with Headquarters at Siloam Springs under command of Major General S P Howzey Jr who had replaced Lieutenant Colonel Weaver as Commander of First Infantry Division (ARANG). In 1926 Captain John W Nutting assumed command of Fourth Regiment Arkansas National Guardsmen when that regiment's colonel died suddenly while serving in Europe with World War I veterans returning home. After being relieved by Captain Neil E Meyers effective November 15th 1928 Fourth Regiment served as a training regiment until February 15th 1929 when it detachment went to Little Rock for maneuvers known as “The Flaming Lips” which were conducted nearby Magnolia Bluff State Park then returned to camp near Pryor where we remain until today. When World War II beganCaptain Neil E Meyers relinquished his commission effective February 8th 1942 so that Trooper Leroy Dickson could become captain effective March 14th 1942 due to mandatory military retirement age for officers at 62 years old after 20 years active duty service having reached lieutenant colonel rank or above unless sooner discharged because disqualified by law from further service due to physical disability caused by shellshock during WWII becoming an invalid prior to discharge officials found he could not resume duty because he required total hip replacement surgery rather than just a Replacement Hip which would have exempted him from military retirement but this surgery never took place so now Leroy is still captain with company today

In 1871, Mormon missionaries traveled westward from Deseret through parts of Missouri & Arkansas to proselytize among Arkansans living along river valleys between those states; they noted strong LDS activity there and decided to establish a permanent headquarters for their church in this area instead of moving westward again via wagon train wintering overland from Nauvoo ( Illinois). This strategic decision helped preserve LDS organizational cohesion during cross-country travel by giving members access to resources close at hand while also allowing missionaries ashoreto preach directly to locals about Baptist values opposed by some Latter Day Saints who lived in more central areas where ecclesiastical power rested

The springs were believed to provide water for cattle and other animals, as well as providing drinking water for people in the area. The town grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, and by 1907 it had a population of over 1,500 people. In 1916, Siloam Springs became an incorporated city, and through its efforts began to develop into a major center for commerce in the region. By the late 1920s, however, Siloam Springs faced significant financial troubles due to changing demographics and economic conditions in Arkansas. In 1933, Siloam Springs ceased to be an incorporated city and merged with the neighboring town of Russellville. At this point, Siloam Springs had a population of just under 2,000 people total; however, it continued to suffer from increasing poverty and crime rates which caused it to lose much of its business base throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In 1949, federal officials announced that they would begin development of what would eventually become known as Little Rock River National Recreation Area within Siloam Springs; this decision led to increased business activity within the community thanks both to new investment opportunities available within Little Rock River National Park as well as increased visitation from tourists looking for scenic views of downtown Arkansas while visiting other parts of the state. The towns growth stopped and by 1945 there were only 100 people living in Siloam Springs. However, the Town kept going until it disappeared in 1951 when it was merged into nearby Gardendale.
