In 2001, Frank Cockerill took over at the Fantuzzi Coffee House and quickly evidented that he wanted to revive the legacy of this iconic business. Cockerill set out to create a unique cup of espresso with his own personal touch. He named his business "Frank's Coffee," and began serving up classic French press coffees alongside new innovations like steamed milk and Chardonnay roasts. Today, Frank's Coffee enjoys continued success with its popular Italian-style espresso drinks along with new releases such as their pumpkin latte which features roasted pumpkin puree instead of milk. West Memphis, Arkansas is located in the eastern United States and is bordered by Missouri to the north and west, Louisiana to the south and east, and Arkansas to the south. The population of West Memphis was 1,833 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1892 by Nicholas "Dutch" Holmquist as a cattle station on what is now known as Holmquist Road. In 1898, Jesse Owens won an Olympic gold medal in track and field in Los Angeles, California; because of this event, West Memphis became associated with that city. Owens's death in a plane crash near Tulsa on April 4th 1948 led to increased interest in West Memphis from all over America. In 1950, Amos Newton opened up what would become known as Memphis Brewing Company here; Memphis Brewery has been operating continuously since then. In 1984-1985 when Memphis Brewery was purchased by Anheuser-Busch beer company it became part of their Busch Farms brewery system which included many other breweries within St Louis County including MOJO (Memphis) In 1990 there were riots that occurred after race riots took place throughout America following passage of the Civil Rights bill called "The Voting Rights Act". This law gave African Americans access to voting rights which had been denied them before. After much protesting and violence by both sides local authorities decided not to pursue any charges against anyone involved with the rioting although some property damage was done
West Memphis, Arkansas was founded in 1881 by entrepreneur James D. Marks and his wife, Emma. The town grew rapidly after Marks opened a cotton gin on the banks of the White River. He also developed a sugar refinery and tannery, which produced leather goods and boots for export to England. The Markses were among the first white people to live in West Memphis when it was established. They had three children: Edwin, Franklin and Emma. Edwin Marks worked at the cotton gin while Franklin became an accountant with a local law firm and Emma started her own grocery store next door to the Marks home. In 1907, she married John Fenton, who would be mayor of West Memphis from 1929 until his death in 1951. In 1915, Mayor Fenton designated a park in West Memphis as "Marks Park" in honor of his father-in-law's donation. The park contained a baseball diamond, tennis courts, playgrounds and a fire hydrant that still stands today. The city also built a high school in 1923 named after Mayor Fenton's son-in-law John Hines Jr.. The post-World War II economy improved for West Memphis as its population boomed due to new oil production on the nearbyArkansas River delta area. However, social unrest continued to plague the town through the 1960s and 1970s due to economic disparities between whites and blacks living there; this led to several riots throughout what is now Shelby County during that period.
