To remedy this situation, Governor George Deukmejian designated the Adelanton National Guard District #2 on February 3, 1988 which adjoined District #1 at Del Norte County Airport north of town (currently known as Redlands Air Force Base). This change allowed for better coordination between both districts while also allowing for more efficient use of resources because all members within districts were now centrally located should any emergency arise outside their respective borders or areas within those boundaries (i.e., Kern County). The Adelanto National Guard was formed on July 1, 1916. The Adelanto National Guard is the only military unit in the city of Adelanto and it is responsible for providing law enforcement, fire protection, and other emergency services to the community.
Adelanto is a small town in Stanislaus County, California. It is located about an hour north of Sacramento. The population was 9,490 at the 2010 census. Adelanto's ZIP code is 95603. The first people to live in what would become Adelanto were the Ohlone people who settled between 100 and 200 A.D. In 1824, Mexican settlers arrived and by 1830, most of the area had been taken over by Spanish colonists as part of Rancho San Luis Rey de Alcalá grant #2-6-9 (now part of Riverside County). In 1851, James Fenton built a cabin on the edge of today's town after finding some high ground near where he later homesteaded his landstraddling rancho Adobe del Oro; this early adobe structure still stands today and can be seen from both roads leading into town limits. A post office was established at Fenton's Cabin in 1852, and soon thereafter the townsite began receiving mail from other parts of Santa Clara County. The first school in what would become Adelanto was organized on April 12, 1854 when Maria Moreno founded a school for girls called "Nova Orden" (New Order), which served students until 1861 when it became "La Salle". On November 21st 1860 local resident Lorenzo Hahn donated land northeast of present day Fenton Road for a new school; this new building remains standing to this day and provides instruction today to grades kindergarten through eighth grade as well as adult education classes during summer months.. In 1865 two more schools were added to serve residents of Addison Heights south side: "Parrish" Preschool opened in 1865 and then "Oak Hill School" followed suit in 1870/71 after pearlshell glass windows were installed at both buildings! A post office was also established at Addison Heights shortly thereafter with mail being sent to La Habra (then known as Agua Dulce) via horseback riders carrying baskets full of mail upriver while others walked or took long trips on foot delivering packages directly to subscribers' homes; by 1880 all package deliveries within 3 miles had been discontinued due to increased postage rates mandated by Congress. On December 5th 1870 another school - Academia (later renamed Kings High School) - opened its doors for students aged 7-12 years old just east of present day Main Street across from Donnybrook Park Race Track.; Academia operated until 1907 when it merged with nearby Los Angeles Union High School becoming one entity with many similar name changes before finally closing its doors permanently in 1957 following nearby growth that made administration difficult enough that separate schools were needed once again within three years! The original Academy building still stands vacant today along with several adjacent residences which are now used for apartments/condominiums . A post office remained open at Addison Heights until 1915 when it reopened at La Mesa(later renamed Ridgecrest) because there wasn't space available within Ridgecrest since so many residents had moved there since the original Post Office closed! By 1923 only about 10% of postal customers living within 3 miles actually received their letters here so an additional house opposite Main Street continued serving as Post Office Annex until 1934 when it too closed due to lackadaisical management . In 1933 a new bank - First National Bank - opened just east of Main Street next door to First National Insurance Company making it one block away from downtown where banks have always been situated throughout history; Incidentally, this location is also where current day ADELANTO MUNICIPAL GARDEN begins business operations! The bank continued serving the community through 1933 until 1984 when it vacated its premises premiseing them currently sits inside City Hall which has been their home since 1975! From 1934-1964 First National Bank occupied what is now City Hall Building 1 while City Hall Building 2 stood vacant next door providing ample parking lot space for employees ! Today marks the centenary year anniversaryof First National Bank’s establishment here in Adelanto & we hope thatmark will provide some continuity back into our past thru commemorative programs
