The California Navy Yard was founded in 1849 by Commodore John S. Woolley, as the first navyyard on the west coast of America. The first ship to be launched there was the USS Constitution on July 4, 1846. In 1861, after the US Civil War, it became part of the United States Navy and was renamed Naval Station Adelanto. In 1942, Naval Station Adelanto was turned over to the United States Army for use as an army airfield. It reverted to its naval designation in 1946 and has been a USCG station ever since. The history of navy gift giving goes back to at least 1865 when Captain WmWright donated a volunteer launch from his yacht called "Seahorse" for use by local merchant vessels docking at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Island. From that beginning, military and civilian sailors have sent gifts of wine and liquor (usually beer) to their friends aboard ships in California waters. In 1898 during World War I, President William McKinley presented Admiral George Dewey with a bottle of champagne as a thank you for leading American forces into battle against Spain’s Spanish fleet off San Diego Bayou Texarkana Texas on December 8th-9th of that year. Two years later Admiral Dewey presented Commander Edward Preble with two cases of champagne when Preble took command ofDestroyer Squadron Fourteen during operations off Leyte Gulf Philippines on October 20th-21st 1890 Captains Jameson Barrett and John Davenport joined forces with Lieutenant Commander Arthur Hapgood commanding Destroyer Squadron Seventy-Six northwest coast Philippines November 15-16 1893 During World War II Pacific Fleet Sailors returned home with many kinds After World War II ended Californian Naval servicemen put their patriotism towards giving back items they had received from Overseas service members such as cups or mugs made from surplus war material or just simply taking item(s) that sailor saw around town and giving them away either through word-of mouth or directly to individual soldiers/ marines who had served abroad At various points throughout history Coast Guard personnel have also contributed items such as watches dogs tags keychains even small paintings often designed by local artists which are now stored away in our museum collections Many different organizations have participated over time including but not limited to: The National WWII Museum located in Washington D C., The Heritage Foundation which specializes exclusively in naval history & maritime art located outside Baltimore MD; USS Constitution Museum Association Incorporated inside Newport News VA ; California Maritime Commission (CMC) - As one example; numerous community groups throughout Southern California also contribute items free OF CHARGE both online & thru donation drives each month ranging from high school students turning macaroni& cheese food containers into maritime statues (& T-Shirts!) all the way up to large Marine Corp Logistic Unit donations that include Humvees & tanks! Contributions continue today via eBay auctions etc.. so please do not hesitate TO GET IN touch! A single exception is given here where due respect is shown for those who have completed long term commissioned service within our military branches instead Of sending personal gifts likeruits baskets or flowers being offered instead A plaque is currently mounted on one wall inside our museum honoring these individuals With permanent signage reading “From Our Military Families To Your Armies And Navies” allowing public access

The Adelanto Naval Air Station was established in 1940 as an auxiliary airfield for the nearby San Diego Airport. The unit became a full-time naval base in 1945, and was renamed Adelanto Naval Air Station in 1948. The air station was re-opened to civilians in 1951 and the name change reverted to Adelanto Naval Air Station on 1 January 1957. It became an inactive navy station on 1 September 1958 when all naval aviation activity at San Diego ended. In 1978, the facility served as a nuclear plant research center until it closed in 1984.
Adelanto, California is a small town located in Inyo County, California. The population was 1,445 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Alpine Valley micropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Adelanto were Native Americans who hunted and gathered plants and animals along the San Gabriel River. They built their villages near where the river empties into Lakebeds National Recreation Area. By 1851, when Mexican land grants were given to parcels of land around Los Angeles County, Adelanto was one of these towns. In 1876, prospectors discovered gold on nearby Comstock Lode Mine. Mining began in earnest and by 1888 Adelanto had a population of 2,000 people living in scattered tents on three square miles (8 km2). A new town hall and waterworks were completed soon after and the name chosen for this new community was “Alpine Valley” because it seemed like an ideal location for a mountain town since there are many mountains in Inyo County. Although most residents here still raised stock or plowed their fields during wintertime, commercial activity picked up quickly as Brunson Mines opened up operations beginning with two trucksloadings of gold per day in 1890; then daily shipments became common until 1922 when production ceased due to depletion of supplies caused by World War I-related rationingism. The last shipment from Brunson came on July 15th 1922 which effectively ended all potential mining opportunities at that site; thereafter Alta Mesa took over as sole mineowner/operator until 1969 when Imperial Gold Corporation leased it back to the government under Operation Downfall resulting in closure of both mines effective September 3rd 1969! Today much remains abandoned including buildings dating back to 1870 such as adobe stores that have been converted into residential units or restaurants serving local cuisine; Ahwahnee Hotel which housed various branch offices before its fire February 14th 1984 partial destruction leaving only foundations remaining today within walking distance of City Hall; alsoLocated just south east next door now closed down Stonington Hospital & Nursing Home formerly known as Our Lady Of Angels Hospital which served as nurses' home for women patients being treated at neighboring hospitals prior to Statewide Health Insurance program changes effective January 1st 1959 causing all hospital services throughout Kern County through narrow corridors being centralized at Statewide facilities rather than locally) amusements park founded by WPA workers located adjacent today's Interstate 5 interchange between I-5 and US 101 business district containing numerous large office buildings housing various types of retail outlets major service depots for Processing Foods (now Frito Lay), Calumet Paper Products (now Office Depot), Jardin Sanitation District (formerly Swenney Park) among other agencies

Adelanto, California is a small town located in the San Bernardino County, California area. The population was 3,823 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1887 by Russian immigrants as a rancho (ranch). By 1902 it had developed into a small town with a post office, two churches and ten stores. In 1925 it became an incorporated city with a mayor and City Council. In 1957 it merged with neighboring Ontario to form Adelanto-Ontario. The current name of the city is commemorated on its first street, Adelanto Avenue, which runs from downtown to the west side of Lake Arrowhead. The history of Adelanto has been associated with many pioneers who have made their mark on this community: Ivan Turgenev, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were three of them. ranchers George Hearn and his son Harry bought land in what would become Adelanto from John Sutter in 1887; they named their new settlement afterelementary school teacher Anna Pushkin (1814-1895) who had helped organize Russian emigrants coming to America during that year's Gold Rush. Other early settlers included Jens Andersen (1881-1966), who arrived in 1886 and built him his own home near present day Dutchtown; Amedeo Zanussi (1890-1962); Charles Hargrave (1900-1973); Julius Rosenwald (1901-1969), one of cofounder(s) of Sears Roebuck & Co.; Rudolph Preiser (1905-) also lived here for several years before moving to Long Beach; Harold Wimmertzer (1920-) also came later that decade but started out working for Kaiser Wilhelm I Motors Inc., now known as Ford Motor Company; Arvid Olsen established an orange grove here in 1922; and Willard Lowenthal first opened a liquor store called "The Grapes" here in 1923 before moving it to Ontario Street south of town center two years later - making him one of the earliest restaurateurs in what would become known as "the wine country." From its early days as Rancho Adelantonio until becoming an incorporated city within San Bernardino County in 1925, Adelanto experienced rapid growth due to waves of newcomers seeking opportunities within American society during the late 19th century gold rush era – including Russians, Germans, Italians, Portuguese and other European immigrants looking for new opportunities outside their homes countries—and through incorporation into newly formed U.S. municipalities such as San Bernardino County followingwardward annexation by county following passage by Congress under President James K Polk on July 4th,. . . .
