The history of the Coast Guard gift program in Agoura Hills, California dates back to 1909. At that time, the County of Ventura hired a company to provide harbor defense and security. The company’s name was later changed to the Coast Guard Auxiliary and it continues this tradition today. The Coast Guard Auxiliary first offered gift cards in 1949. Initially, these cards were only used for purchases within the agency itself. However, in 1957, the Auxiliary began selling gift certificates as well. These certificates could be used to purchase items from any of the agency’s branches or divisions. Today, the Coast Guard gift program is one of most popular in the country. Agoura Hills, California is a city in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 63,723 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area and its metropolitan area. The city lies on the eastern edge of Agoura Hills National Park. The first Europeans to visit what is now Agoura Hills were Spanish Franciscan missionaries in 1769. In 1853, prospectors discovered gold near present-day Agoura Hills and began mining for ore here. By 1865, most of the mines had been abandoned because of low grades of gold ore; however, a few men continued to find nuggets and other minerals here until 1868 when an American Express messenger found some fifteen nuggets at Sperry's Ranchroad Mill (now Sperry Drive). In 1888–89 John Dankworth opened up Jardine's Domain land east ofpresent-day Agoura Hills with 3 miles (5 km) of track leading from his mine to his mill site where he processed ores into coins and cigarette money. This settlement became known as "Dankworthville" after him. In 1897 Jardine sold off all his holdings except 1/8 mile (0.3 km) north along present day Rodeo Drive to James Chilton who renamed it "Chiltonville". By 1907 there were over 150 businesses in Agoura Hills employing over 4500 people; by 1914 there were more than 3000 businesses with a payroll greater than $100 million annually including many industry giants such as Ford Motors Company, International Telephone and Telegraph Company (ITT), Wells Fargo & Co., Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, United Artists Pictures Corporation and General Electric Light Company among others. During World War I production at ITT increased tenfold to support munitions stockpiles while war plants were constructed throughout Southern California; by 1945 these plants employed almost 20,000 workers making primarily electronic products but also aircraft engines and shipbuilding tools during wartime defense efforts worldwide After World War II many companies closed down or merged while others spread out across different markets; by 1960 only 35 big companies remained in downtown business areas with 100K employees employing 1800 people including many major technology firms like Intel(INTC), Microsoft(MSFT), Apple Inc.(AAPL), Hewlett-Packard(HP) among others . Today DowntownAgoura has become one huge concentration point for high tech jobs as well as residential areas which are home to many celebrities such as Brad Pitts wife Angelina Jolie,, Tom Hanks son Hank Azaria,, Justin Timberlake etc..

Agoura Hills is a small town in the Simi Valley region of California, located on the banks of the Simi River. The name "Agoura" means "place where oak trees grow." The first settler in Agoura Hills was George Chapman, who arrived in 1847 and homesteaded a piece of land just north of present-day Agoura Hills Boulevard. In 1865, a group of men from Pasadena built a sawmill on the riverbank northeast of Agoura Hills. By 1870, there were over 100 people living in Agoura Hills. The arrival of automobiles made life easier for farmers and ranchers in the early years of twentieth century. Road access to agriculture became available through irrigation canals that crossed the Simi River at Agoura Hills and Millbrae. Roads were also constructed through other rural areas such as Northridge and Brentwood to bring transportation services to residents in these communities. As more people moved into Agoura Hills, Hispanic culture began to take hold and FuenteAzúz Elementary School was built in 1922 as part of an effort by Spanish-speaking families to integrate into American society. In 1938, Malibu homeowners John Pritzker and his wife Joan Hadley subdivided their 4,500-acre (1,600 hectare) estate near Topanga Canyon into 93 smaller lots known as " Bungalows". When they sold their holdings three years later, all but 10 bungalows had been replaced by homes during the postwar period which continued until 2000 when all remaining bungalows were demolished due to concerns about fire risk. In 1965 Caltrans began construction on what would become State Route 142 – now Interstate 5 – parallel to Interstate 405 between South Gate Boulevard south of downtown Los Angeles and West Covina Boulevard east of West Covina Oaks; this move helped spur development along I-5 corridor while adjacent housing developments continued without interruption until after statehood in 1976 when SR 142 designation was discontinued from I-5 following passage of .
