Coffee has been brewed in Agoura Hills, California since the early 1800s. The first coffeehouses in the area were established around 1825 and were known as "The Coffee House on Elm" and "The Coffee House at Hawthorne." In 1830, a group of Italian immigrants founded an Italian grocery store in Agoura Hills which became the first Italian-owned business in Los Angeles. The store was renamed the Grocery Company of America after it bought out the original Italians. In 1846, John Sutter arrived in Los Angeles from Europe and opened his first post office near Spring Street and Western Avenue. He started to trade goods with local farmers and began to sell coffee beans. By 1856, Sutter's Post Office had become one of the largest commercial businesses in town. Over time, other small businessmen followed suit and gradually coffee became a dominant commodity within Los Angeles County. By 1870, coffee had become such an important part of LA society that Mayor James Kahl organized a meeting to discuss ways to increase its production within city limits. At this meeting, Kahl recommended importing Brazilian beans instead of domestically produced beans because they could be stored longer without spoiling. This decision led to increased profits for both Sutter and Kahl as Brazil became one of the world's leading coffee producers during this time period

Agoura Hills was founded on November 15, 1901 by Russian immigrants D’Angelo and Nellie Agoura. The original community was located two miles east of where it stands today on what is now Westwood Boulevard. In 1915, the community moved to its present location on land that had been donated by Haji Abdullah Abdul Kareem and his wife Hassanah Abdul Kareem. That same year, Agoura Hills became one ofirteen cities in Los Angeles County when it split from nearby Toluca Lake. On July 17, 1926, Mayor Harry Bridges dedicated aglow an outdoor fountain called “The Fountain of Life” located at Rosemead Boulevard and Ventura Drive which still stands today as a symbol of civic pride for Agoura Hills residents and visitors alike. In early 1957 local developer Leonard Koffee purchased 2,000 acres (800 hectares) adjacent to western Hollywood from his father-in-law John Atherton for $9 million dollars In 1959 Koffee built what would become known as "the biggest shopping mall in America". The mall's first phase opened in 1961 with anchor stores JCPenny and Sears followed by American Eagle Outfitters in 1966 and Creative Discounts in 1968. Koffee sold the mall to Sears Holdings Corporation in 2004 for $2 billion dollars In 2007 Koffee & Sons announced plans to redevelop their entire portfolio including both standalone malls (Koffee Marketplace) as well as mixed use projects (The Grove). As part of this project they will demolish all but two buildings from the 1970s vacated by Sears Holdings Corporation; these buildings are now used as parking lots for new construction going up around them Since 2006 much work has gone into renovating Dodger Stadium with a new football field being built along with offices and other uses scattered throughout the stadium complex
