In 1892 Jameson Moulton donated sixty acres (240 m²) of land adjacent to his home at Sycamore Canyon Road/Canoga Park Boulevard in order to establishAgoura Hills Golf Club – still in operation today as part of La Jolla Golf Links – which would later become Agoura Hills Tennis Club. The twenty-acre (80 m²) fairways are set among palm trees on rolling hills that give away from viewpoints towards downtown Los Angeles across Toluca Lake while giving views over Observatory Hill into UCLA’s campus below. In 1909 Pacific Electric Railway began service from Westwood Village station through downtown Los Angeles carrying passengers along Canoga Park Boulevard past Agoura Hills before terminating at Union Station where passengers transferred onto cars heading east or west along Interstate 5A

The population was 54,814 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Agoura Hills were Mexican land grantees who arrived in 1839. In 1849, gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill and this led to an influx of people from all over America looking for gold. The area that would later become Agoura Hills was part of Rancho Cucamonga which was granted to José Castro in 1858. This rancho extended from present day Ventura County north to central Kern County and down into today's Orange County. In 1912, Agoura Hills got its own city charter and became one of the first American cities to do so. It grew rapidly due to its status as a bedroom community for Fresno and its proximity to Interstate 5 and other major arteries. By 1976, Agoura Hills had surpassed Fresno as the fastest-growing city in California with a population growth rate of 118%. During World War II, much of what is now Agoura Hills was used as an airfield by United States Air Forces during World War II; it served as such until 1974 when it reverted back to public use following reclamation by local farmers for agricultural purposes only The original runways can be seen today near Jurupa Valley High School where they are still visible on ground level from time-to-time
