The origins of this coffee go back to 1887 when Antonio Peet & Sons began producing coffee in what is now Alameda, California. The beans were sourced from around the world and were roasted using traditional methods including shot peening and direct roasting. In 1984, Lorenzo Peet passed away but his brother Angelo still oversees the business today. Alameda is located in Contra Costa County, California and has a population of over 150,000 people. The city was founded in 1851 by brothers Elias and George Washington Davis. It became an incorporated city in 1868. The first coffee house in Alameda was the Benares Coffee House on Furman Street. In 1892, John Jacob Astor purchases land near the City Hall square and built the firstAstor Hotel which still stands today.

It is the most populous city situated in Contra Costa County and the second-largest city east of San Francisco. The first Europeans to visit what is now Alameda were Spanish missionaries who went there in 1769–1770. The area that would become Alameda was part of Rancho Diablo de las Pulgas (later Rancho Seco), which had been granted by grant from King Ferdinand II of Spain to Manuel Nieto on December 7, 1799. The grant was increased by another grant on March 14, 1821 to include all of present-day Contra Costa County. In 1852, the California Gold Rush began and led to the discovery and settlement of many new townships within Contra Costa County, including Alameda. With gold discovered in nearby Sutro City (now San Francisco) and Mineta Ridge (now Menlo Park), settlers rushed into Alameda to find new farmland around San Pablo Bay and on Mission Bay. During World War II, facilities at Livermore National Laboratory were developed here including radar development which eventually led to nuclear weapons testing in Bikini Atoll under Operation Crossroads; plutonium production at Los Alamos National Laboratory; and early computer architecture research at Stanford Research Institute among others located here during this time period In 1967 when BART was created as a public transportation system serving this rapidly growing metropolis it passed through town center with Interstate 580 running directly through it coming out just south of today's Addison Street plaza . That same year Ulysses S Grant High School opened after years of planning with students from various neighborhoods moving into surrounding areas such as South Berkeley riding BART into campus . Today's university district includes parts or all of Downtown Hayward , Jack London Square , Midtown Oakland ,and much rural land east past I-580

The earliest evidence of coffee beans being roasted and brewed comes from the Sumerian city of Uruk, which began to brew coffee in 8500 BCE. Coffee was then brought to Greece by the Mycenaean Greeks in the 7th century BCE, and it is believed that they first drank black coffee. In the Middle Ages, Turkish traders brought coffee to Europe, where it was first used as a currency item. In 1536, when Columbus discovered America, he brought back beans from his trip and introduced them to Spain. These were later traded with Portugal for sugar and other goods. By 1617, Dutch traders had started trading with Mexico City for coffee (and some other items) because of its strategic location on the Isthmus of Panama. Coffee became an important part of Spanish culture after Ferdinand Magellan sailed through the area in 1521 on his journey to find new lands beyond Asia. He brought back beans from Chile and Peru before finally reaching Java in 1524–25; however, he did not bring any actual cups or plans for beverage production with himback home! It wasn’t until 1795 that espresso-based drinks such as cafe espresso were born in Rome! By this time, café became an everyday word meaning “a place where one can drink Coffee”! Coffee culture quickly spread throughout most parts of Europe following this initial trend. In 1819–20 Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta visited Italy and wrote about meeting people who drank espresso out at various cafes along the way – this is likely when espresso first entered into European cultural consciousness! However, until World War II only Italian citizens could enjoy high quality cup of java! During World War II Italian soldiers fought on both sides and thus took up many different jobs including serving military personnel with their morning joe fixings (coffee). Consequently, many cafes across Europe continued serving pre-war vintage coffees even after war broke out between Italy and Germany!!! After WWII ended caffeine consumption began to decline rapidly all over Western Europe as people turned more towards tea instead (including Americans!). However, due to recent technological advances Starbucks has managed to keep pace with global trends by introducing their own versions of high quality coffees now available all over the world!!

The first Anglo-Saxon to settle in Alameda was Captain George Smith who built a small farm there on January 15, 1827.
In 1853, the first post office was established on Alameda. In 1868, the City of San Francisco was founded on the peninsula. The city annexed Alameda in 1898.
