The Coast Guard was established on December 15, 1941 as the United States Coast Guard Reserve. The first coast guard stations were established in California and Oregon. On February 14, 1942, the Coast Guard activated its first operational unit-the cutter Service Unit One. In 1944, the Coast Guard separated its personnel into two divisions-the Patrol Division and the Rescue Division. On November 17, 1945, the Service Unit Two was decommissioned and all assets were turned over to the Department of Defense. As a result of this decommissioning and merger there was no longer a Cutter Service Unit Two within the Coast Guard Reserve which led to confusion among service members about who had responsibility for what functions when an emergency arose. By 1951 there were only six active duty coast guard units left in California with five more activated but not yet equipped with vessels or personnel. On July 1, 1951 at 4:00 PM USCG Sector 800 became part of Guam Naval Air Station after being transferred from San Francisco Municipal Utility District (SFMUD). On September 2nd same year Sector 808 became part of Guam Naval Air Station and then on October 16th sector 808 became part of Hawaii Naval Air Station when it joined that station under Control Of The Navy due to military operations surrounding that area during World War II including Japanese forces landing on Pearl Harbor. In 1962 control of naval air stations between US possessions passed from DOD to USDCG effective November 3rd when USDCG was redesignated Headquarters United States Coast Guards - Alameda County before becoming command responsible for all district commands ashore except Hawaii which remained with DOD until 1994 when NOAA took over reinsignation as Command National Marine Fisheries Service On January 1st 1978 Headquarters UICGC assumed control of Commandant's Office Maritime Security Forces elements assigned to/within CGHQ having jurisdiction over all aspects security activities both aboard vessels or ashore upon transfer from DOD also included authority for law enforcement activity shoreside throughout coastal environs subject to notification CGHQ commander Commander Mariners Militia Force abolished on May 1st 1979 followin decision by Secretary Weinberger aura aquatic Marines replaced by Regular Marines

Albany, California is a city located in the San Joaquin Valley of central California. With a population of about 302,000 in 2010, it is the second-largest city in Contra Costa County and one of the most populous cities in Northern California. Albany is known for its architecture, including State Capitol building and Golden Gate Bridge The first Europeans to visit what became Albany were Mexican traders on their way from Monterey to San Francisco. The name "Albany" was given by Captain John Sloat on July 6, 1824 when he named a small creek after Governor James K. Polk of Florida while his ship lay at anchor off Point Reyes lighthouse. In 1850, gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill near present-day Albany and quickly became the largest single discovery ever made in California. The new town grew up around mines and mills until the Panic of 1893 hit the economy hard and transportation links improved only slowly thereafter; Albany officially ceased to exist as an incorporated municipality on March 14, 1896. Apostle Peter Cooley founded Sacramento Airfield (now Davis-Monthan Airport) east of downtown in 1927 as an auxiliary airfield for Central Valley Naval Air Station (later Nimitz Naval Air Station). After World War II it served as a training base for Navy pilots during peace time before becoming an airport commercial service facility under civilian control. In 1960 it opened as Capital City Airport with multiple runways adjoining downtown business districts; however passenger numbers declined over the years due to competition from larger airports farther north or west throughout Greater Sacramento region; Capital City closed its doors effective January 1, 1987 following several bankruptcies among airline operators thereon which led then-Mayor Dick Angel to propose that within two years all major Sacramento area airports close their gates because they were outnumbered by larger regional airports – leading eventually to current status quo with five large Sacramento area airports serving greater than 50% passengers 24/7 while only three small rural ones serve that number – all six without any commercial service! A $2 million feasibility study resulting from this proposal was approved by Mayor Jerry Brown less than two years later setting off much local opposition which culminated inBrown vetoing the study - thus paving way for today's continued lack of economic development at many smaller rural Sacramentans' favorite airport!

It was founded on October 17, 1848 by James Purdy and Emmett Steuart as the capital of what would become the Central Valley of California. The population was 34,814 at the 2010 census. The name Albany comes from Alnus National Forest in Spain – where Purdy and Steuart had first settled in 1847 – and refers to an old Native American village near modern-day Albany. The present-day city was laid out in 1850 by W. C. Fuller during his tenure as superintendent of public works for Contra Costa County. Albany experienced its heyday beginning in the late 19th century when it became one of the largest cities in Northern California due to its location within easy access of numerous industry centers such as Richmond, San Francisco and Oakland. However, over time Albany has seen significant decline due to a variety of factors including a lack of economic opportunity; crime; high municipal taxes; and traffic congestion caused by heavy commercial development throughout the cityscape. Aramis American Legion Post #3 still operates from this building on North Main Street which served as headquarters for that organization from 1911 until its closure in 1984
