These renovations also included installation of a large hangar allowing for more than 350 vehicles Storage capacity has since been doubled! The current structure is capable of accommodating up to 850 military vehicles! The latest deployment involving navy personnel took place in 2013 when USS George Washington (CG 58) relieved USS John S McCain (CVN 81) at Hampton Roads Naval Base while they underwent repairs following Hurricane Sandy.. This event served as another reminder of how close our city is proximity to both America’s military installations and its coastline.. During their stay at Hampton Roads Naval Base USS George Washington conducted port visits throughout town,, interacting with local businesses and civilians alike; this visit helped improve relationships between our community members and the Navy brass who are often seen conducting business activities in downtown Albany1 It should be noted that these deployments have always occurred during peacetime periods- something that makes them even more special given our city’s history with militarism . The establishment of BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) brought new development to Albany between 1971 and 1978; during that time, many local businesses closed or relocated due to competition from BART services. In 1976, Albany became home to one of only twohyde laboratories in California when Eastman Chemical opened its facility there. Eastman's primary product was butane gas used for heating and cooking purposes until it discontinued production in 2006; however, its research facilities remain active today within the city limits while also serving as an incubator for technology startups.

The first permanent Spanish settlement in what is now Kern County was founded on August 29, 1777 by José Manuel de la Cañada y Placeras under the leadership of Captain Fernando Rivera Pinzón y Peralta. After years of trying to find a water supply for their new colony—which included enduring pioneer journeys overland through difficult terrain and weeks-long sea crossings—the Spaniards discovered the Sacramento River on October 15, 1777. They named their new town "Acapulco," after Capitán Francisco de Avila's flagship that had made this discovery during his campaign against Mexican forces at Pojoaque Bay on November 9th. In 1847, as part of efforts to reduce Mexican land holdings within Californias fledgling statehood system, Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado ordered the sale of all white lands east of San Bernardino Mountains to Native American tribes because he felt that such sales would open up more opportunities for white settlers in what was then Mexico City territory – an area which now includes most of Kern County and parts of Riverside and Orange counties
