It became known as "The Bean Store" and it offered an extensive selection of roasted beans from all over the world. In 1980, The Bean Store opened a second location in Fullerton which continued to serve great coffee until 2003 when it closed its doors again after 38 years of business. In recent years, various other businesses have opened up within walking distance of The Bean Store including Aroma Café & Coffee House (2000), Bakelite Cafe (2002), and Sweet Spot Donuts & Coffeeaques (2005). These businesses have also become known as "The Bean Scene." Over time, different people have contributed their own unique touches to The Bean Scene by starting their own businesses or setting up their own personal cafes within walking distance of the store. Some notable owners include Danica Kirka (2006-present), who started Aroma Café & Coffee House; Rob Smith (2009-present) who operates Sweet Spot Donuts & Coffeeaques; and Erica Slatkin (2013- present) who operates Bakelite Cafe.

After years of discussion over how to name their new town - which would have been called something like "Anaheim" - voters decided that "Angels" would be a better choice than anything else proposed and so Angeles was selected as the town's new name. The first resident to move into their new home were Anna Caballero and José Gámez from Mexico City who arrived on October 15th,1897. In 1903–1904 James Waddell built an L-shaped ranch house on what is today known as West Holly Street for his wife Evalyn Hahn Waddell and family before moving out himself in 1906 to become co-founder (with Roy Capps) of Redondo Beach Brewing Company which later became craft brewer Anheuser Busch Brewery Incorporated (ABB). By 1920 there were over 120 businesses operating in downtown Anaheim employing over 2400 people during that time period making it one of America's leading commercial districts
