Anderson, California is a city of over 110,000 people in the greater Sacramento area. The city's history dates back to 1851 when it was founded by Captain James Cook as an outpost on the north side of the Sacramento River. In 1909, Anderson became one of the first cities in California to be incorporated as a municipality. Today, Anderson is known for its gourmet coffee and other artisanal products. Anderson's coffee industry has been around since at least the 1870s when Hahnemann Coffee Company opened a store in downtown Anderson. The first commercial production of coffee beans in Sacramento took place in 1902 with Wm. Suckling and Sons roasting beans for Ayer Brothers grocery store customers. It wasn't until 1912 that Mr. Harry Stover established his own Gourmet Coffee shop on Post #2 near miss Costello Boulevard. In 1922, George Weingarten became proprietor of Weingarten’s Coffee House which was then located at 201 Main Street across from present day Davis Plaza Shopping Center (now part of SouthPark Mall). In 1949, Italian immigrant Angelo Gaggi opened his first café called "Gaggi's Italian Cafe" on 2nd Street between Spring and Stockton Streets across from City Hall (now also part of SouthPark Mall). This cafe served espresso drinks and pastries made with imported Italian ingredients such as: cinnamon rolls, cream puffs, tiramisu (), marsala () and many others including those mentioned above! One can still findAngelo Gaggi’s Café open today serving interesting Austrian-style sodas like “Wiener Schnaps” (Vienna Wiener Kaffee), roast beef sandwiches with Swiss cheese and housevariety pastries such as cannoli orzanato (). After years of popularity among locals and visitors alike during that time period GIACHEI'S CAFE quickly became well-known throughout Northern California due to its consistent quality espresso drinks which were handcrafted daily using only top quality Ethiopian Sulawesi Java beans! In 1978 after more than 50 years operating under several different names including Luigi’s Cafeteria before finally becoming Angelo Gaggi’s Café we closed our doors permanently after failing health reasons; however many anecdotescirculate about how much fun we had continuing operations outshopped even by our original chain operators! In 2002–2003 Angelo Gaggi's Café reopened at 5555 Stockton Blvd., Ste 320 within South Park Mall location formerly occupied by Sears & Roebuck stores prior to their closure in 1998; however this time due to lack of creativity sourcing local produce instead relied exclusively upon imported items sourced from China/Taiwan etc.; unfortunately this locations closing left a large hole in south park mall's foodie scene which has yet to be filled entirely….. evergreen favorite old school OC staple "Angelo GAggis"anni will continue business operationalbeit remaining privately owned until further notice….
