The United States Army has a rich history dating back to 1861. The first American military forces arrived in California during the Mexican-American War, and soon after, Californians mobilized to fight for their country. In 1868, the U.S. Military forces in California were organized into three infantry brigades under the command of Colonel George Armstrong Custer. These troops fought in the bloody Battle of Stockton and at other engagements throughout California. In 1876, General John A. Logan ordered an all-out invasion of Mexico and began preparations for war with that nation. By January of that year, American troops had invaded Baja California as part of this effort and quickly gained control over much of the region south of Socorro Lake (the modern day state of Chihuahua). However, despite these successes, Ulysses S. Grant decided not to launch a full-scale assault on Mexico City until later in the year due to concerns about additional casualties and supplies needed for an upcoming campaign against Confederate forces in Virginia. The Mexican Revolution ended with Emiliano Zapata's victory over Spanish rule in 1913 and thus opened up new opportunities for Americans interested in invested in Mexican politics (such as ranchers) to enterprisingly intervene militarily on behalf of their allies (the National Revolutionary Party). This changed everything when Villa grabbed power from Zapata just days before Christmas 1914 following a bloody coup d'état that saw many high-ranking officials lose their lives including presidential candidate Porfirio Díaz—a man who was openly supportive of America's entry into World War I through his private financial contributions to America First Committee members such as JMW Turner). Villa then declared himself president with support from Germany which had been providing arms and money to Villa's insurgency since before hostilities started; German nationals also played a significant role within Villa's government once it came into power (many being given key positions within his cabinet). On October 26th 1915,[4] President Woodrow Wilson signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing military action against Spanish anarchists living inside Cuba without prior warning its citizens or proper congressional debate! This order effectively placed restrictions on First Amendment rights granted by law till 1917 forbidding any form of counterrevolutionary activity without justification! The Arcata Army Logistical Battalion (ALB) was established on October 1, 1942 as the first peacetime military unit in the City of Arcata. The battalion served initially with the United States Army until it was transferred to the California National Guard on December 14, 1944. It remained in that status through World War II and into the postwar period. The battalion was reactivated as an infantry battalion on September 25, 1951 and served concurrently with the California National Guard's 7th Infantry Division from its activation until its disbandment on November 15, 1957.

Some other key moments include when Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) started operations in 1901 or when The University of California bought land adjacent to present day Arcata for its new campus in 1911-12 making it one of Silicon Valley's earliest universities In 1941 Japanese American Citizens League Incorporated (JACL) organized a sit-in at City Hall which led to Mayor James Jorgenson ordering tear gas grenades used against them resulting in three people being injured including JACL leader Joe Perrone who sustained serious injuries requiring surgery It wasn't until after World War II thatArcata saw some really significant change with developers coming in and creating housing developments like "Homespun" which featured large gardens dripping with water features as well as professionalistic architecture becoming popular One such example would be Eileen Kennedy's creation of "Kennedy Place" which would later become home to Googleplex before finally going up for sale and being purchased by Apple Incorporated These days arcata sees more than just development but also helps promote local businesses through various events like farmer’s markets or art walks happening throughout different parts of town
