The Arroyo Grande Army deployed gift history in California during the early 1800s. In response to Mexico’s aggression, General George Armstrong Custer called out his Ulysses S. Grant’s 20th Infantry Regiment from Nebraska on December 6th 1861 and attacked Mexican positions near Carlsbad Adobe Walls within minutes of its mobilization date! The mission was successful and no American casualties were reported however it did create an opening for Mexico which quickly attacked again two days later! After months of fighting and attrition against determined Mexican troops, General Custer withdrew his unit on January 1st 1862 after losing over 100 men including many officers killed or captured! With little hope of relief forthcoming from either side, Californians responded by holdingIVisitancesof war games with their local militia units throughout February-March 1862 in order to raise morale amongst their fellow citizens before finally evacuating when hostilities ceased on April 10th!

Arroyo Grande, California is a city located in Kern County, California. The population was 43,816 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Kern County and the third-most populous city in California. Arroyo Grande is also one of two cities in Kern County that are both listed as "Allendale." The first European to see Arroyo Grande was Juan Bautista de Anza on October 25, 1769 during his exploration of what would become Northern California. The town began to form around 1847 when Father Miguel Estrada organized a group of Franciscans to build missions in the area including San José del Oropo (1847),mission Santa Rita (1851), and Rancho Rinconado (1853). In 1857, Mexico acquired California from United States through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and Arroyo Grande became part of Mexican territory. In 1872, railroad tycoon John Sutter founded Sutter's Fortification Depot here on what is now North Main Street. He named it after himself – Arroyo Grande – because he saw no other place within reach for his new fortifications which he had built across northern Nevada and southern Oregon. The fortification depot served as a point of departure for settlers heading into central Valley country for irrigated agriculture or mining operations; wagon trains carrying goods arrived here every day from as far away as Sacramento and Stockton. The first post office opened at Arroyo Grande on November 1, 1872; it was located near present-day East Main Street. By 1865, there were over 100 businesses operating out of the fortification depot including stores, hotels/motels, restaurants/bars/restaurants, flour mills, printing presses and more than 50 blacksmiths who did all sorts of metal work for local farmers and ranchers such as Wm Hahnemann and Philip Larkin Sr.. On July 11th 1880 USGS Topographic Map No. 2 was published showing an error with respect to eastwest mile markers along US Highway 95 between Los Angeles Junction (now I-10) northward about 12 miles due westward until Yuma Crossing then southward about 8 miles until its junction with US 95 at Pahrump just east of today's Goldfield Roadstead Community College site surveys indicate that these errors were corrected by adding 4 additional miles eastward along today's Goldfield Roadstead Community College site survey map ...... Google Earth shows this addition being made at an intersection where current Day Roadstead Boulevard meets Presentday Drive
