Arroyo Grande is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee beans were grown and roasted in Arroyo Grande by brothers Don and Bob Applegate in 1957. In 1969, Don passed away but his sons continued to roast and sell coffee until 1992 when their company was acquired by Peet's Coffee Company. In 2006, Peet's divestiture of its U.S. coffee business left Arroyo Grande with only two small roasters remaining - Bickerton & Sons Coffee and Los Angeles Coffee - both of which continue to produce high-quality coffee products today under the name "Bickerton". Today, Arroyo Grande still has one of the best-known and most popular espresso drinks in Southern California - a latte with lung cancer survivor Carlos Santana on it - as well as some of the most unique coffee products like sour cream cups and breakfast burritos that can be found anywhere in Southern California!

These beans are then roasted using traditional methods including solvent extraction (where water is evaporated under pressure), air-drying or direct roasting.

The first coffee crop was grown in Arroyo Grande in 1859 by Carlos Ortiz and his father-in-law Manuel Aguirre. The first mill was built in 1875 and the first grocery store opened in 1886. In 1914, Arroyo Grande became part of what is now known as the Kern County seat of Bakersfield. In 1935–1936, a group of local farmers founded the Kern Agricultural Experiment Station to study how to grow coffee beans sustainably. At that time, Arroyo Grande had one grocery store and no schools or businesses. The station's research led to the founding of the current company that produces coffee here - Peet's Coffee Company - which has been in business since 1937.

The name "Arroyo Grande" means "river of the gazelle." The first European to visit this area was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 15, 1769, and he named this area San Fernando de Arroyo Grande after his patron saint. In 1836, Padre José de la Peña founded a Mission in what is now Arroyo Grande and led many religious missions there over the next few years. In 1847, John Cranch discovered gold near present-day Arroyo Grande and decided to settle here. He built a cabin on an clearing that he had found and started mining forGold in 1850. By 1861 all of present-day Fresno County had been established when United States Marines landed at Fort Pico to suppress the Mexican War. The mission buildings were moved from their original site to Arroyo Grande during World War II because of air raids by the USAAF; they remain there today as part of Catholic Church property (along with other historic sites) adjacent to City Park in downtown Arroyo Grande

This led to the development of different coffee countries and cultures, which has had a profound impact on the quality and taste of today's coffee. One of the earliest coffee regions was West Africa. The region produced some of the world's best-quality beans, and this helped contribute to its growth as a slave trade center. Over time, other parts of Africa also began producing good-quality coffee. Ultimately, this helped create what we now know asAfrica's robusto style coffee culture. The development of espresso machines changed everything when it came to how people consumed their morning cup of Joe! In Europe and North America, espresso machines became popularized around 1875 thanks to Italian inventor Angelo Bicchieri. Soon after his invention, people started making their own espresso based on recipes they found online or in print advertisements. By 1895, espresso machines were being sold at most cafes across those regions! As technology advanced over time, so too did espresso machines! By 2002–2003 alone, there were more than 800 typesof espresso machines available on the market! However, despite all these advancements – high-quality bean production remains unchanged today: All coffees are roasted by hand with skillful hands using fresh whole beans from local farmers).

Arroyo Grande, California is located in the Central Valley of California. The region was first populated by the Ohlone people and then by Native Americans. The area was later drained by the San Joaquin River and its tributaries. In 1849, Arroyo Grande became part of Mexico when it was annexed by that country. In 1906, Arroyo Grande was made a U.S. territory and in 1912, it became a state of California. Today, Arroyo Grande is a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 706 as of 2019. The Ohlone people were one of several cultures that populated this area between 2200 BC and AD 1000. They lived on small islands in the San Joaquin River near present day Fremont and Dixon Streets in what is now Sacramento County. By 1800 BC, these people had started to build villages along the banks of the river adjacent to their mainland homes. By 1700 BC, they had also built some larger villages upstream from today’s town of Arroyo Grande on Slauson Creek and within 100 miles (160 kilometers) of Sacramento City proper on Elk Grove Prairie Parkland east of Redding Creek where they hunted deer, turkey, bear and other game species for food sources. In 1776 during Mexican–American War,[2] General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna invaded northern Californias San Gabriel Valley[3][4] under cover of darkness while Veterans militia fought off an Indian attack at Sutter’s Fort on January 15th.[5][6] Santa Anna soon discovered that American forces were nearby at Pacheco Heights outside Needles so he withdrew his army back upriver before marching into central California without resistence or consequence; his men looted houses along the way as well as taking any arms or supplies found inside American lines.[7][8] On February 14th José Joaquín Mora y Mesa arrived from Monterey with orders from Governor Agustín de Alvarado to march against Lieutenant Colonel Antonio López de Santa Ana who had been ordered to investigate possible fraudulence among Mexican loyalists operating throughout Californias interior.[9][10][11] At night en route Mora stopped at what are now known as Sleepy Hollow[12], 12 miles north east OF modern El Sobrante,[13] just southwest Of Tubbs Hill,[14](near present day Elk Grove Village).[15]) After spending three days resting Mora marched northeastward past Del Norte Hills across Coyote Flat Pass into today’s Butte County about 25 miles north northwest Of Bear Lake village site which lay atlatl point over Selma River below today’s Menlo Park city limits;[16](today’s Palo Alto)[17]), reaching Cruziano Gulch sometime after February 28th approximately 8 miles NEARpresent day Hercules Oaks city limits; thence marching due Northwesterly upon high ground reaching(today?)
