The Arvin Coast Guard Station was established in 1923. The station is located on the shore of Arvin Lake and provides assistance to local law enforcement. It also offers recreational opportunities for the community. In 2009, the Coast Guard Station celebrated its centennial year. In 1916, the California State Legislature passed a bill authorizing the creation of a coast guard station in Arvin. The first coast guard officer stationed at the station was Captain H.W. Bowen. At that time, it was known as Point Loma National Monument and not as Arvin Countyseat. Governor James Phelan approved the establishment of a coast guard station on November 3, 1916 and Captain Bowen served as Commandant until he retired in 1922. On May 7, 1929, a new building was completed at Point Loma which became known as Headquarters Annex #1 (HAAF). This building housed all administrative functions of the Coast Guard Station including barracks for patrol officers and storage for supplies and equipment. In 1951, Headquarters Annex #2 (HACA) was built adjacent to Headquarters Annex #1 on Point Loma Boulevard which became known as Headquarters Annex #2 (HACB). This building housed command and control functions for both Headquarters annexes with an attached mess hall and gymnasium/ recreation area overlooking Lady Bird Lake The facility saw many changes during its years of operation including adding an air-conditioning unit in 1978 which replaced an old hot water system; enlarging Hangar 2 in 1984 to accommodate more helicopters; renovating Hangar 3 in 1990-1991 which included addition of office space; constructing Pier 1 in 2001-2002 which includes boat launch ramp; widening existing streets withindesignated jurisdictional areas by adding shoulders; paving streets around pier areas with aggregate from Navy Yard compound material salvaged from Naval Surface Warfare Center Bremerton Washington during Operation Iraqi Freedom cleanup operations; creating decorative light fixtures out front of each annexe with hand-woven wire netting imported from China In 2007, HQA announced plans to demolish portions of buildings within HACA due to budget cuts while also increasing visitation hours for visitor center attractions along with expanding access to facilities through driving range access off main entrance drive accessible only via ramps down side alley accessed via side walk approached from rear property . In February 2013 SFGME awarded $9 million modification contract No.: KKGM09C0095V3D5Z to Aquarius Marine Solutions Inc., underbidder Northland Contractors Inc., finalists San Diego Maritime District - Goleta Shipyard LLC & Santa Barbara County Regional Services Agency - Santa Cruz Marina Authority for installation/repair/maintenance works on three Harbor Security Gates located at entrances into Harbor: East Gate(HARBOR AREA I), South Gate(HARBOR AREA II) & West Gate(OFFSHORE AREA). These projects will improve security posture along Harborside neighborhoods by twinning SH61 gates with TOW vehicles allowing quick response when needed..

Arvin is a small town in Kern County, California, located on the east side of the San Joaquin River. The population was 1,565 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto metropolitan area. Arvin has been inhabited by Native Americans for centuries and there are various stories about its Founding Fathers. One story says Arvin was founded by two brothers who were traders travelling through the area looking for new land to settle. They found a piece of land and named it after themselves, Arvin. Another story tells about an army general who passed through the area in 1846 and saw what looked like a perfect place to build his own house; he named it Arvin after himself and set up shop there. The first post office in Arvin opened in 1868, and it remains one of the town's most popular tourist attractions today. The ZIP code for Arvin is 95759. Some interesting facts about Arvon include that it sometimes experiences summer rains which turn creek beds into raging torrents known as "the floods." According to legend, when General John Custer fought during the Mexican-American War outside of this town he lost an arm due to infection from an injury sustained while raiding Sacremento ranch days earlier - so much so that some believe his troops might have abandoned him if they knew he was still alive! In fact, even now cattle drives can be seen taking place around these parts during times when water levels are high enough so that crossings over can be made without getting wet (although typically only during very dry years).
The first white person to live in Arvin was E.B. White, who came to the area in 1887. The town was named for Captain John A. Arvin, a pioneer rancher and sheriff of Fresno County. In 1914, Arvin became part of the San Joaquin Valley Authority (SJVA).
