Arvin, California is a town located in Kern County, California. It was founded in 1893 by John Arvin and his brother-in-law, George Earle. The town became an agricultural community with coffee beans being the main crop. In the 1920s and 1930s, Arvin began to become known as a brewing center for coffee beans from all over the world. In 1992, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf acquired the rights to produce small batch coffee from Arvin. This led to increased production and demand for their products throughout California. Today, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's small batch coffee is available throughout North America and internationally.

Arvin is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Visalia-Tulare metropolitan area. Arvin was established on January 3, 1889 by James Fenton and his brother-in-law George Washburn as a post office with the name of "Avila". The first postmaster was J.E. Beebe. The first store in Arvin was built on Main Street by Wm.Dickey and Son in 1892. In 1911, Arvin had two hardware stores and nine gasoline stations when it incorporated as a city under the name of "Avila". The first mayor was Haddon Burnett and the first council members were Averill Culp (1911- 1915), John Loomis (1915- 1918), Wiley Cook (1920– 1923), Clarence Duchamp (1923– 1931) and Harry Watts (1931). In 1934, Arvin annexed neighboring towns of Hanford and Niles to form what would become Kern County; however, this annexation failed because both towns had no vote in that election. In 1961, City Councilwoman Phebe Parks announced her candidacy to succeed Mayor Burnett but lost to then Mayor Don Armstrong by just one vote after an recount found Armstrong's campaign materials were missing from some of the city's public libraries

A true ' artisanal' product!

Arvin, California is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Arvin is located about an hour northeast of Fresno and about two hours southwest of Bakersfield. The name Arvin comes from the Chumash word "arvina" meaning "a place to gather berries." The first settler in what is now Arvin was John Cavanaugh who arrived in 1858. In 1891, the town was platted and named after Arthur A. Arvin who served as Secretary of War for California under President Benjamin Harrison. As post office Box Elder changed its name to Arvin in 1907 due to the popularity of that name given by mail service providers outside of California's Central Valley during that time period, most people refer to their community as simply Arvin today - often without realizing it has any connection with its namesake from years ago. In fact, even some people living in Arvin today who were born or raised there may not know much about Arthur A. Arvon or his history because he never received recognition or publicity within the community until relatively recently (certainly since the late 20th century). Arthur A.Arvon was born on December 9th, 1859 in Humboldt County,,California while his father-in-law Drury Waugh was on a visit home from Oregon Territory when they came across a group of Chumash Indians living near present day Fresno Castleberry Ranch where they met and married Mrs Mrs Wright on October 12th 1879 at which time Mr Waugh took leave for Oregon Territory with his family including five children: Anna May (1880-1968), Lillie Mae (1881-1967), Clyde Edwin (1883-1951), Arthur Arthur Jr.(1885-1971) and Royce Everett(1887-1965). After returning from Oregon Territory he started farming at Peebles Adobe along side his wife Mrs Wright until her death on February 14th 1889 after 36 months Of Marriage; When all six kids were old enough to work they started working together dad did odd jobs too help out momma and picking cotton during THE GOOD BUSINESS YEAR which ended up being 1850’s….. however only 3 ranches & 2 homesteads got built so we can say our Community founding wasn’t nothing special………. actually pretty typical back then
