The first commercial batch of coffee beans was roasted by Don José de la Cruz at his farmstead on October 8th, 1912. This batch was intended to be enjoyed by local ranchers and farmers who were Gaviota Coffee's first customers. Don José de la Cruz continued to roast coffee until he passed away in 1951. The first place where espresso was produced commercially in Atascadero was at Luigi Batali's restaurant on December 1st, 1912. This event marked the beginning ofcoffee production in this town. Don Carlos Gomez founded La Bodega y el Cafe (later known as El Corte Ingles) on February 15th, 1915 which became a popular tourist spot for locals and tourists alike due to its excellent cup of java. La Bodega y el Cafe soon became well-known for their delicious Latin American style espresso drinks called Bolivianas ( bolivianas = Bolivian coffee ). Soprano vocalist Sarah Vaughan recorded her song "Atasca D' Oro" about this time which featured music from Los Angeles’s old Argentinean hotel “El patio del Rio” where she sang her part among other singers during her residency between 1946-1948 In 1948 an Italian immigrant named Antonio Negri bought La Bodega yel Cafe along with two adjacent buildings at 516 Main Street in downtown Atascadero. He renamed it Negrinone & Co., Ltd., later becoming known as Starbucks Corporation . From 1968 until 1977 when it closed down due to fire insurance claims made against it by then Mayor Arturo Fraga – Atascadero’s only COFFEE business –Negrinone & Co., Ltd.'s cafe served as a social center for senior citizens living below the highway interchange between Highway 395 and Paseo de las Flores Avenue . It reopened under new ownership after being rebuilt but closed again due to fire insurance claims in 1998 In 1978 Federico Fellini shot footage for his feature film “Paisà” inside El Corte Ingles main café while filming scenes for his character Felix DeSoto who visits Paso Robles every day from Los Angeles . The exterior design used elements from El Corte Ingles including wood panelled walls that lead out into a outdoor courtyard filled with plants and fountains . In order to promote Pure Guaraní Coffee (the local pure guaraní bean variety) they brewed a speciality blend called Paso Robles Heritage Blend which included whole guaraní beans , premium chocolate malt , light cream (used instead of sugar )and antioxidant rich blackstrap molasses On September 11th 1988 owner Federico Fellini died suddenly after many years running the business He was cremated at Monterey County Cemetery with full honors outside Café Negrinone plaza next door

Atascadero is a small town in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Atascadero has been inhabited by the same people for more than 10,000 years and its first permanent settler was Juan Rodríguez de Montoya in 1829. The town was founded on October 15 of that year when Thomas Hickey and his party set out from Rancho Negro located southeast of today's Atascadero to explore the new land grants received from Mexico after the Mexican-American War. The first post office in Atascadero was opened in 1842. On December 26 of that year, an Act of Congress designated part of present day Atascadero as a Townsite within San Bernardino County. A year later, on January 3rd, 1843, an additional act designated portions of present day AtascadERO asvinechos del Monte Creek Valley and part of Present Day Riverside County as well making it one large township with nine townships (present day: San Bernardino, Riverside, Cathedral City; before those boundaries were established: Agua Dulce Village; Santa Ana Townships 1 & 2; Yorba Linda Township). On July 12th 1898 Citizens' Committee organized to purchase rights to build a school and began construction which led to the opening of our current school building on November 17th 1898. The first school bus arrived in our lot on September 25th 1899! Our current K-8 School provides education for students ranging from PreKindergarten through Eighth Grade! In 1935 Partridge Bros., manufacturers of radios andTelevision sets moved their manufacturing plant into Atascadero where they continued production until 1969 when production shifted back to Northridge California due to competition from Japan. In 1984 Pacific Bell merged with Bell Atlantic who kept ownership until PHONE MULTimedia Corporation purchased them in 1995 and continue production until 2003 when they sold them to AT&T Wireless who operate them currently as WILCOME COMMUNICATIONS INC.. After divestitures several other companies took over including Google Fiber Incorporated followed by Comcast Internet Service before being sold off again to Time Warner Cable which operates them currently under their Turner Broadcasting System brand name
Atascadero was founded by Juan Bautista Alvarado in 1777 on the banks of the Atascadero River. The site became a Spanish mission in 1821 and then an American military post during the Mexican-American War. After Mexico lost that war, it annexed Atascadero to its territory, but allowed American citizens to keep their homes and businesses until 1840 when Mexico set up a ban on white people living within its borders. The town developed rapidly as a result of the railroad construction that began in 1869, with both passenger and freight trains running through Atascadero. Mining operations began near the end of the 19th century, and Byers Dam was completed in 1912 creating Lake AtascadERO. The development of nearby San Francisco led to significant changes in Atascadero's demographics over time; most notably, there has been little recent growth at the downtown core since World War II ended. However, more dense residential development is ongoing along Allende Street toward downtown.
