Military Deployed Gift History in Atascadero, California began in the late 1800s when the U.S. military stationed a detachment of artillery near Atascadero during World War I. The detachment was later increased to a regiment and then a brigade, eventually becoming an army corps during World War II. As part of the Army’s program to increase community support for war efforts, the military established a gift store at Camp Pendleton in 1942. The store became an important source of morale-booster gifts for soldiers and their families. In addition to munitions and supplies, the store also offered unique items such as postcards and calendars from across the United States. The Store closed in 1958 but its legacy remains strong today as one of Atascadero’s favorite sources of military deployed gift history. Today, thanks to donations from friends and family members of Marines and Army personnel who have served here over the years, Camp Pendleton Museum is able to display artifacts from both World Wars I and II as well as other wars that have passed through our town’s hands. Atascadero is a small city in San Luis Obispo County, California. The population was 5,404 at the 2010 census. Atascadero's history goes back to 1797 when it was part of Rancho Los Osos de Atascadero. By 1871, the town had become an agricultural center with a total of 291 businesses. In 1912, Atascadero became an incorporated village and by 1916 had a population of 781. The first post office in Atascadero opened on December 12, 1876. The present day Main Street was built in 1911 and is named for Captain H.J. Beall who served as the first Postmaster General of California from 1912-1916. In 1922, the University of California at Berkeley moved to Berkeley Heights which is now known as UC Berkeley South Campus and formed what is today known as the Golden Bears Athletic Department along with other new departments including Creative Writing and Planning Studies which were both newly created colleges within UCBerkeley during that time frame; these two colleges would later merge to form UC Berkeley School of Architecture in 1969). During World War II there was significant growth due to war materials being brought into town for incorporation into the military effort such as ammunition plants (the town got its nickname "Atacama" due to this) and many jobs were generated for local farmers(many people still workdays nowadays are dedicated to raising crops that will be turned into goods available on store shelves). In 1951, voters passed Measure T which established a high school system in Atascadero Branch #5 with John Foyt High School opening in 1954 followed by Sanger High School (now Sanger Middle School) becoming operational in 1960. In 1966 voters passed Measure Mwhich created Park Districts throughout San Luis Obispo County with portions annexed into nearby towns following annexation votes taking place from 1965-1966 inclusive; these districts are currently known collectively as North Park Districts after Mapleton Avenue formerly located within original AtascadERO Village boundaries became parkland adjacent thereto extending northeasterly past Arroyo Seco Creek eastward unto Rincon Valley Boulevard southwesterly unto Interstate 5 corridor between Santa Clara and San Jose Counties) Finally voter approved Proposition 83 creating Anza Community College System (AACS) within North Park Districts - this made ACHA one college campus amongst many others across Northern California under AACS administration - major accomplishments include: construction of freshman dormitories/residences on various campuses across Northern California; establishment of numerous research programs dealing exclusively with northern Californian environment, economy & social trends; development of world-renowned graduate programs therein; acquisition/use/development by ACHA of land northeast corner Of Highway 237 & Hansen Road near Hayward CA - resulting in creation of largest open space areawithin regional region comprising 2 million acres or nearly 20% thereof containing more than 1 million housing units developments completed or under contract totaling over $60 billion

Atascadero is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 33,814 at the 2010 census. Atascadero is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River and bordered by Walnut Creek to the east and west. The first people to live in what would become Atascadero were Native Americans who built homes on mesas overlooking the river. In 1849, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna ordered Major George Criollo to build a road from Stockton to Sacramento so that goods could be shipped north without being carried downriver by rafts. Therefore, Criollo's mill became one of Atascadero's earliest commercial enterprises. In 1892, Atascadero was incorporated as a town and soon began becoming an important agricultural center due to its fertile soils and large oak trees which produce pears, apples, plums, figs and other fruit trees. During World War II many American soldiers stationed in nearby Fairfield arrived with no food or water available for them so they set up camp along the banks of the river until relief arrived mail truckloads of rations each day from San Francisco
Atascadero is located in the southernmost corner of San Diego County and sits on a valley that was once part of the Santa Barbara Mountains. The city began to form in the late 1800s when farmers started moving into this area from eastern California. In 1902, Atascadero became an incorporated town with a population of about 235 people. By 1920, the population had increased to over 1,000 people and by 1940 it had reached 2,500 people. During World War II, Atascaderos largest contribution to the war effort was its production of munitions which played a pivotal role in both Europe and America. After the war, Atascadero experienced rapid growth as new residents arrived and businesses were started up. The economy boomed during the 1960s and 1970s as jobs grew available in industry such as aerospace engineering and plastics manufacturing. However, during the 1980s-1990s there were Crate and Barrel stores opening up along with numerous other small businesses that left downtown for higher taxes rates or more developed neighborhoods outside of town center. In recent years there have been efforts made to revitalize downtown Atascadero with some economic development plans including development of an amphitheater/festival space along with retail units within walking distance of Main Street Square; however these projects have not yet been successful in succeeding in revivaling downtown AtascadERO's fortunes since 2001 when it lost its status as an urban center due to competition from nearby Escondido.
