This park became one of the largest urban parks in Ohio when it opened its doors to the public in 1957. In 1978, Mayor Don Bowers presented Mayor Raymond Wojtasiewicz with a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sellers which included two acres adjacent to City Park that would become Market Square Shopping Center (now part of) Ashtabula Township (now part of Ormond Beach). Atwater is a city in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 72,878 at the 2010 census. Atwater was founded in 1887 by banker and politician George Atwater and his wife, Lillie A. Atwater. It became an incorporated town in 1907. The city's namesake is George Atwater Sr., who served as mayor from 1925 to 1929 and 1931 to 1935. The first post office in Atwater was established in 1887, and the first store opened on December 12 of that year. In 1899, the first telephone line went up in the city; it was connected with Fresno via underground cable to make communication more efficient for the small town at that time. By 1912, there were five banks within a radius of Atwater; one branch of each bank being within two blocks of one another. In 1922-23 when water supplies were scarce due to drought conditions – but also during World War II because of aerial bombing raids on nearby cities – Mayor Harry Jaffe developed a water treatment plant which he named "Jaffe Water Treatment Plant", after himself and then-Mayor Harry Jaffe (1922-27). This plant helped Toombs Dam become operational over sixty years later (1969). On October 17th 1951 Mayor Floyd Kapp announced that all citizens were invited to attend an open house at City Hall where they would be able to view various aspects of their community including streetscape improvements which had just been completed including new piers into which rain barrels could be placed for watering plants; new sidewalks on Center Street between First Avenue South and NW Third Street; new lighting along Meetinghouse Road between Clear Creek Boulevard and HWY 395; interpretive signs around town promoting local history etc.; thanks to donations from residents some jobs had already been created such as job opportunities with Pritchett Trucking Company while others like painting at Home Depot;
