The jet arrived in the city on October 10th,1950 and was given to the city by Colonel Harry D. Eisenhower. The jet had been ordered as part of the US military's contribution to the Korean War.

Auburn, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,428 at the 2000 census. Auburn was founded in 1887 by George Augustus Armistead and his wife Anna Augusta Armistead. The village had a post office from 1887 to 1899 and a school from 1889 to 1901. In 1903, the name of the town was changed to Auburn after the successful football team of that year won the Great Western Conference championship. The Auburn Tigers football team is one of college football's most successful programs with more than 100 wins over a span of more than 20 years (1927-present). They are known for their "Rocket League" nickname and their annual conference championships which have been awarded every four years since 1933. The program has also produced some of the biggest names in American sport such as Heisman Trophy winners Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw. In 1927, George Atkinson became head coach for Auburn University's first ever football game against Pitzer College on December 12th which resulted in a 14-3 victory for Tiger Stadium in Los Angeles suburb of Carson City. Records show that this game would be played as part of then-UAAP schedules following UAAP merger with Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCCAA) on November 1st that same year; however it would not be until 1930 when ties between both conferences were eliminated following play-in games between both leagues during what is now known as Division I FBS season that AAF became officially recognized as an NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) program on January 1st 1934 under new rules set by Commissioner Morrill Schembechler himself prior to bowl eligibility criteria being rewritten following national title games featuringakeovers at NFL level due to Depression era budget cuts. As part of newly reorganized conference system installed at this time under successor body National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), renamed Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FCS), Auburn continued its undefeated streak against defending champion Georgia Tech Red Raiders including 24 straight meetings dating back to 1932 before finally losing 7--0 at neutral New Orleans Superdome on November 17th 1938 during Second World War effort dubbed "The Battle of Alamo". This high scoring matchup helped makeashore famous nationally while energizing local war effort supporters who traveled en masse from all over Southern California to watchTigers take down archrival Green Bay Packers 38–14 before sellouts at Memorial Coliseum two days later becoming only third team ever To win three consecutive NCAA Championships outright starting with Sugar Bowl victory over USC Bears nine months later culminating with national championship victory over Arizona Wildcats 31–24 finalizing undefeated campaign resulting in first ever professional collegiate football championship trophy—a largetriangular gold bowl encased in vacuous metal frame sporting green ionized glass front display case now resides inside Jordan Ellis Proving Grounds museum near downtown LA where it remains unaccessible daily despite multiple public records requests thus furthering popular perception that once again local/community institution metamorphosed into world class commercial enterprise
