Avenal is a town in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto metropolitan area. Avenal is located on the eastern edge of Stanislaus National Forest and is home to numerous parks and forests including Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The first Europeans to visit this area were the Spanish missionaries who founded Mission San Francisco de Asís (1769) in what is now Avenal. The town was named after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna y Costilla (1759-1824), an opponent of Mexico's Mexican War of Independence who unsuccessfully sought refuge in this area during that conflict. In 1821, when American independence was granted by Ulysses S. Grant following the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, General Lopez's family returned to their Rancho Santa Rosa in present day Stanislaus County and took up residence there until his death in 1824. In 1876–77 two groups of mining entrepreneurs led by James Wickersham established a small operation nearpresent day Avenal while they explored nearby prospect sites; one group discovered gold while working at Buttermilk Hills Mine; however no production took place because no Donners had been able to build mills large enough to process ore from these hillsides since Donner's original journey across Northern California more than two years earlier That same year Californian miners discovered silver at prospect Sites No 2 and 3 about east northeast of present day Avenal along State Route 116 between Ukiah and Redding This new development quickly attracted attention as well as investment due both to its potential for natural resources as well as its location adjacent to important transportation routes such as State Route 120 which connected Sacramento with Needles on the East Coast/Oregon Territory then known as Nevada Territory Californian miners developed three main fields: Site No 4 yielded over $1 million worth of silver but only produced about $543 thousand worth total from 1950 until 1984 when it was closed due primarily to environmental problems associated with drilling for oil . Over time other areas became productive particularly Site No 7producing over $2 billion worth in raw metal before it closed operations in 2002 Production resumed onsite in 2006 under a new mine name “Horseshoe” after predecessor Mine No 5 which operated from 1951 until 1984 Today Avenal remains an agricultural center with cattle ranching being the primary industry although some manufacturing now takes place including fabricated aluminum products made atynthetic alloys plant

Despite this history, some people still believe that GGU's could be an effective tool in terms of holiday gifting. Avenal is a small, agricultural community in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Kern County, California. Avenal was founded by John Sutter and his wife Eliza on May 24, 1849. The name "Avenal" derives from French for "avenue." The first post office at Avenal was established on October 10, 1852. On November 1, 1854, the town site was patented to Joseph A. Hahn. The first store at Avenal opened on December 15th of that year. On April 3rd, 1861, the United States Post Office moved from its original location two miles east of town to what is now the intersection of State Route 95 and US route 522 south of town. In 1865 local resident George Wickersham donated land to form what is now Midtown Park which became one ofavenal's most popular attractions with residents and visitors alike. In 1905 a new high school was built and named after Mrs. Sutter (now Mrs. Kapp). The old high school building still stands today as an art museum inside Midtown Park
