In Azusa, California, the United States Air Force has been providing services to the community since World War II. The first airbase in Azusa was established in 1942 and it remains an important part of the USAF today. The Azusa AFB Museum is home to many fascinating artifacts from the history of the USAAF here in Azusa. One particularly interesting item is a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber that flew for the Japanese during World War II. This aircraft was also used by the United StatesAAF during their campaign against Japan in 1945. One of my favorite things about working at the museum is seeing all of the amazing Air Force memorabilia that has been donated here over time. It’s truly inspiring to see how much faith these people have in their military service and its impact on society at large.

Azusa, California is a city located in San Bernardino County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 62,571. The city is named for Japanese-American azusa people who had settled there during World War II. When the United States military discharged all Japanese Americans in 1945, Azusa became one of the first cities to do so. The azusa area was part of Alta Loma Jurisdiction until 1795 when it was detached from San Bernardino County and annexed by what is now Pasadena. Many early settlers were Scottish Presbyterians and Irish Catholics who arrived after 1851 when Mexican land grants were issued to them at Rancho Paloma Creek near present-day Pasadena and Mission Viejo. After American annexation of California in 1848, most of what is now Azusa was part of Los Angeles County. However, on February 14, 1850, a group led by Acting Sheriff John Waddell burned down a warehouse used by an Indian trader at Rancho Nietongo (now Reseda) as part of a campaign against hostile Native Americans known as "Wadsworth's Rebellion". The town began to form around this event with founding members including Jno. Harkness (a native English speaker), Wm Snyders (a white man), Chas Sells (a blacksmith), James Troup (an American settler from New York City), David Richards(a Welsh immigrant), Elisha Cook(an Italian immigrant) and others. In 1868–69 Western Union Telegraph Company constructed a line from downtown Los Angeles to Redlands then upGlen Road through Parkland to Temescal before terminating at Pico Boulevard east of Beverly Hills proper; this line shortened then reconnected with the old Southern Pacific Railroad route just north of Azusa today. In 1870s gold prospectors started arriving in various parts of northern California with some coming directly to Yountville while others took passage on ships either up or down the Santa Monica River before landing at Canoga Park where they erected temporary buildings before hittingched rides back downriver on teamsters working unskilled jobs in their49ers called Pedro's Brigade which means "Drinking Water Heaters" due to operations beginning about November 25th 1870 along Devons Ferry Rd.(near present day Anza Drive southwest corner mission Blvd.) Today there are numerous restaurants that serve up General Tso chicken if you're feeling adventurous! 1st Street between 1st Avenue/Paseo del Rey and 2nd Street/Butte Ave., originally built as Main Street ran east-west but now extended northwest-southeast along Anza Drive near mission Blvd., served as both business district center prior to its annexation into Azusa circa 1865 when First & Second Avenues were built adjacent thereto later renamed First & Mission Streets respectively; original homeowners included many Anglo descent such as Mrs Dennison political clout having prevailed within extant community – her husband Hiram Dennison Sr being elected Clerk territory year following incumbency however much subsequent building transpired withoutMrs Dennison knowledge or participation ↑ “First &Mission Streets” designation should be restored according contemporary understanding that would include blocks bounded north/south by those streets including portions extending beyond northeast corner thereof currently occupied by University Village complex ↑ After annexation intoAzusa via First Avenue—formerly Main Street—became College Avenue which continued uninterrupted northeasterly course until intersection with current 2ndStreet approximately 1915 ↑ After annexation intoAzusa viaFirst Avenue— formerly Main Street—became College Avenue which continued uninterrupted northeasterly course until intersection with current 2ndStreet approximately 1915 ↓ A new street alignment connecting Old Santa Fe Road eastward from Diamond Bar across railroad tracks forming Northbound I-5 traffic circle centered on modern day Paseo del Rey reopened May 5th 2019 following over 10 years delay ↓ A new street alignment connecting Old Santa Fe Road eastward from Diamond Bar across railroad tracks forming Northbound I-5 traffic circle centered on modern day Paseo del Rey reopened May 5th 2019 following over 10 years delay

Azusa was founded by Antonio Furioso and Juan Bautista Altaqueras, two Spanish settlers who were looking for a new home after being displaced from their previous location in Monterey County. The first Azusa post office was opened on December 12, 1849. The community soon became known for its agricultural products, such as apples and grapes. In 1862, Azusa was renamed after José Román Azusa y Valdés, an Argentine general who had fought against Mexico during the Mexican-American War. After World War II, Azusa experienced rapid growth due to the farming industry and post-war infrastructure development. However, the town's population began to decline in the early 21st century because of container shipping traffic and other economic factors. Currently, there are only a few old buildings remaining in azusacalifornialand some residents have moved away while others maintain a small rural community lifestyle
