The Azusa Army National Guard has been providing military services in the City of Azusa since 1852. The first unit to be mobilized was Company K, 1st Battalion, Azusa Infantry Regiment on October 27th, 1852. In 1916, the regiment became 2nd Battalion and then 3rd Battalion. In 1951, the battalion was redesignated as 3rd Infantry Regiment and again became 2nd Battalion in 1956. Then in 1962, it became 4th Infantry Regiment and finally 5th Infantry Regiment in 1984. From 1984-1991 the regiment served as a Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment (HHD) with 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT), First Marine Division (First Marine Force). Finally from 1991-1994 it served as an attached brigade with 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT), Second Marine Division (Second Marine Force). Now that the regiment is back to its original name of 3rd Infantry Regiment it will once again deploy to support Operation Desert Storm during October 1990-January 1991. The regiment's history stretches back over 246 years to 1852 when Company K first mobilizationd for duty in California's Kern County

Azusa, California was founded on July 4, 1876 by the brothers Jedediah and David Bohn. The town was named after a place in Japan, where they were exiled. In 1881, Jedediah Bohn sold the town to his brother-in-law George Hinkle. On January 1, 1886, Azusa became part of the City of Los Angeles. The first post office in Azusa opened on December 5, 1887. The first store opened in 1888 and the first school in 1889. The first water tower was built in 1895 and the first electric light bulb came into use in 1896. It was also during this time that azusa began to be known as "the center of the world." In 1915, President Woodrow Wilson announced thatAzusa would become an American city again under the new National City Act which gave cities like Los Angeles more power to regulate themselves democratically than they had before. This decision helped revitalize azusa and bring back some of its old businesses such as Sears & Roebuck department stores and Hollywood studios which had all left for greener pastures about a decade earlier due to prohibition efforts by America's then president Woodrow Wilson himself. On November 15th 1926 Azusa experienced one of its most tragic moments when a fire destroyed most of downtown resulting in an estimated $1 million loss for local businesses alone Azusa has since undergone many changes including becoming majority minority populated between 2000-2010 with Latinos making up over 50% while Asians make up over 20%. However much progress there has been there has always been resistance from certain groups who continue to cling onto their colonial roots despite overall advances made throughout history; specifically Arabs who have long inhabited this area dating back centuries before any white people arrived here at all

Azusa's history can be traced back to 1871 when it was founded as a small town on the eastside of San Bernardino County by Japanese immigrants. It grew quickly after becoming an agricultural center and soon became known for its fruit orchards and dairy farms. In 1920, Azusa won the first title of "City of Industry" from Los Angeles due to its economic success in manufacturing goods related to industrial production. Azusa's growth continued during the Great Depression with new development coming during World War II when the city became home to many military personnel stationed in Southern California. After the war,Azusa experienced rapid growth with new subdivisions being developed such as Aliso Viejo and Northridge which together formed what is now known as "The Anaheim Hills". The city reached its peak in the late 1960s and early 1970s with population levels reaching over 200,000 people per year; however, recent demographic changes have led to a decrease in populations throughout most of downtown Azusa.
