In 1802, Congress passed another act authorizing four more regiments to be raised for service in America: one regiment from each of Delaware (1st), Connecticut (2nd), Rhode Island (3rd), and New York (4th). These four new regiment were given the names "National Guardsmen", "Provincial Force militia", "New England Volunteers", and "African American Troops".
