In 1915, Captain James Fenton, an American Civil War veteran and local businessman donated land to the Baldwin Park Military Home Association for use as a military base. The home was built on a hill overlooking Baldwin Park and opened to the public in 1917. The home served as a training center for American soldiers during World War I and II. It also played an important role in the city's defense during those wars. The home was used as headquarters for both Army Units 1st Battalion (Calvary) and 3rd Battalion (Pioneers), 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, and 5th Infantry Regiment before it was decommissioned in 1969. Since its decommissioning, the home has been leased several times to various organizations including nonprofit groups such as Santa Barbara County Museum of Art and Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department Historical Unit. In 2007, it was purchased by Baldwin Park City Councilmember Janice Hahn who plans to turn it into a museum dedicated to military deployment gifts from across California.

In 1941, Baldwin Park merged with neighboring towns Donner Lake and Lakewood to form Unified Baldwin Park. The unified municipality had a population of about 3600 people as of 2000. The economy of Baldwin Park is mainly based on agriculture and manufacturing. There are several businesses that operate in the town: an agricultural Implement dealership, a printing shop, two restaurants (one Italian-owned and one Mexican-owned), a hardware store, and two schools (one elementary school and one high school). Additionally, there are several churches which serve the local community: St John's Episcopal Church (founded in 1907), Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church (founded in 1911), First Baptist Church (founded in 1916), Griffith Avenue Baptist Church (founded in 1922), Methodist Episcopal Zion Chapel (established in 1927) and United Methodist Churches South Central Conference Building (established 1984). There is also an annual event which takes place during May called "The Festival at Father Clements" which features arts & crafts activities as well as music from various bands/pianists throughout the daylong event.

In 1922 BaldwinPark became an incorporated municipality with a population of 9,000 people. In 1989, Baldwin Park was renamed after then-Mayor James L. Kotter following his election as Mayor of Los Angeles County. As part of Mayor Kotter's effort to increase diversity in Los Angeles City government, he appointed African American activist Clarence Thomas as Chief Operating Officer for Parks & Recreation for all branches of government within City Hall. After being elected Chief Operating Officer for all branches of government in 2002, Thomas retired from his position effective December 1st, 2003 effective at age 75 years old; making him only the second African American ever appointed Chief Operating Officer for any branch of Los Angeles City government (the first being LAPD Sergeant Korey Wise). On July 15th 2017 it was announced that former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa had been named Urban Legend chairperson for LATimes Media Company’s newly created content arm called LAWeekly which will be headquartered inside Staples Center across from The Beverly Hilton Hotel – formerly home to KTLA Channel 5 & now Universal Pictures) Prior to this appointment he had been Vice President/ General Manager/CEO Creative Strategies Group LLC where he led marketing strategy development within LATimes Media Company
Baldwin Park is a small city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 5,951 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of San Bernardino and includes most of what is now Baldwin Park. The name Baldwin Park comes from Major General John Brougham's 1837 survey of this area as part of Rancho Cahuenga Mexican land grant which included what is now Baldwin Park. The first post office in Baldwin Park was established in 1853. The town was named for General John Brougham (1784-1868), who served as Commandant-in-Chief and Superintendent of Indian Affairs for California during the Mexican War (1846-48). In 1875, Judge James Wickersham donated large parcels of land to be used as a parkland within the new town boundaries. In 1880, an issue arose over who should get credit for making much of the new town square lined with trees. A vote ended up deciding that all citizens were responsible for planting and manure removal within their own neighborhoods - something that continues to this day! In 1916, three brothers – Harry Fenton Sr., Harry Fenton Jr., and Aloysius "Buzz" Goodyear – founded Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company on $2 million they had saved up since 1914 from selling parts and products made by their father's company Mavis Oil Corporation. Goodyear soon became one of Southern California's leading corporations and played a central role in developing Los Angeles into one of America's largest metropolises.
