Banning, California is a small town in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. The population was 1,764 at the 2010 census. Banning is located on the junction of PCH and US 101. The name "Banning" comes from Spanish meaning "to place by the side of the road." Banning first appeared on maps in 1853 when Hernando Banning land grant was surveyed. The townsite for Banning was established in 1907 when a post office was established there. In 1959, two brothers, Dale and Donny Ritchie bought an existing store and restaurant called The Grapes from their father-in-law Harry Sweeny. They renamed it Donny's Bar & Grill which remains open to this day as one of Banning's most popular businesses today. In 1977, they built a new building that became their landmark - now known as The Bank - which still stands today and serves as the community center for Banning. In 2006, Donny passed away at the age of 78 after many years providing stability and leadership to his business during difficult times. Today his daughter Donna continues her father's legacy by running the business with her husband Jeffery Liebman until he passed away in 2018 at the age of 90 years old; leaving behind an incredible assets including over 35 years of experience in management and ownership within local businesses throughout Southern California...

The first documented mention of marine life was in ancient Greece, where they called it mikroskopos, meaning “small boat.” In the 17th century, a Dutchman named Jan van der Heyden recorded an observation about a sea animal he saw while sailing his ship: “I beheld on the coast of India a huge beast which I took for a whale because its size seemed so great. It had the body of a large whale, but the head and tail were like those of dolphins or porpoises.” From this point forward, there was increasing interest in marine life across cultures and countries. In 1838, Englishman Edward Smith made the first known drawing of an eel (Eudyptes chrysolophus). In 1856 French scientist Louis Pasteur identified bacteria that cause typhoid fever (a disease caused by lice). This knowledge led to new treatments for diseases such as typhoid and tuberculosis. In 1912 German physician Ernst Haeckel discovered that types of algae can photosynthesize in water under sunlight—this led to new ideas about how plants functioned. In 1937 Japan built the world’s first ocean going ship using screws instead of sails to explore seascapes around Asia. Japanese sailors also became interested in studying marine life during their exploration trips as well as collecting specimens for shipment back home. By World War II, scientists had developed methods to study coral growth and reproduction in great detail (this is still done today by aquarium scientists). Banning, California is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Banning is located in the eastern Sierra Nevada foothills and has a Mediterranean climate. The first European tosight Banning was on July 24, 1847 when José María Inouye passed through the area on his way from Tulare to survey Rancho San Luis Rey. A post office called Banning was established in 1852, and for many years it served as the county seat of Kern County. The first city in Kern County was founded in 1865 by James Waddell and others who bypassed Banning on their way to build new townships north of Fresno. In 1916, two men named Harry Semon and Clarence King discovered oil shale near what would become downtown Banning. They developed the bannered oil field which became one of Kern County's most successful industries; production peaked at 3 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 1951 but declined during the Korean War because of military restrictions on exports. In 1942, John Fenton built an airfield at Beale Air Force Base east of town for use byAAF bombers flying over central California during World War II; this prompted development of nearby Beale Valley as a local agricultural center due to increased commercial flights into and out of Los Angeles airport during that time period. 2% unemployment rates occurred between 2003-2007 datasets
