Banning was founded in 1868 by George and Fanny Smith as a station on the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1951, the railroad changed its name to the Silicon Valley Railway Company and it became an independent company in 1957. Banning has been home to small batch coffee for over 100 years. Banning Coffee Co., Ltd. was established in 1912 by Florence D'Angelo and her husband John D'Angelo Sr.; Banning's first beans were roasted on their own premises. In 1932, Frank White started purchasing beans from Florence's son-in-law Harry Hirschfeld; White renamed Banning Coffee Co., Ltd., after his initials BCOB (Bay Area New Broad Bean). In 1961,BCOB merged with two other companies to form First National Coffee Company Incorporated; First National continued to produce small batch coffee until it closed its doors in 1990. In 2000, Donny Cavanaugh purchased all of BCOB's assets including the manufacturing plant and warehouses; he reopened First National Coffee as a single-origin coffee shop chain under the name Donny & me Brewing Company Incorporated with headquarters located at 7500 El Camino Real in Carlsbad Caverns Open Space Park adjacent to Petco Park in Carlsbad, CA Since 2000 Donny Cavanaugh has been working extremely hard developing new brewing techniques which have resulted in some of our most popular flavors including Vanilla Java & Chocolate Chipotle blended coffees - perfect for any event!

Banning is located in Stanislaus County, and is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Banning was founded by George Banning in 1873. The original business on Main Street was a store selling agricultural products such as hay and oats. In 1886, Banning built a post office and began to offer services such as mail delivery and water rights sales. In 1903, Banning became the first town in Stanislaus County to be incorporated with a population of over 1,000 people. In 1971, BanNING established an outdoor recreation area which includes three ponds: Cloud Meadow Pond (20 acres), Blue Jay Pond (10 acres), and Willow Grove Pond (8 acres). This area has been used for fishing, swimming, hiking/biking, camping and picnicking since it was first developed. The community has also had its share of controversy over the years. For example, in 1978 there were several demonstrations against construction of a new Interstate Highway across from town center that would have destroyed many homes and businesses within sight of the highway construction site. In 2001-2002 a severe drought caused many farm families to abandon their properties near BanNING for fear that they would not be able to return if rain came through during those harsh times; this situation later led to some social unrest when some family members were unable or unwilling to leave their property because they could not afford it back then unfortunately events followed suit resulting in more than $500K worth damage done while people are still without power after so many months
