The United States National Guard was created on October 15th, 1846, as part of the Military Act of 1804. Camp Bowie was located on theranch at present-day Barstow. The first national guard unit to be mobilized was Company D of the 1st Battalion, San Diego Infantry Regiment which disembarked at Alcatraz Island on July 4th, 1850. The second battalion was organized at Portrero Hill on November 10th, 1850 and garrisoned at Fort Point until May 1861 when they were ordered to active duty in Texas under President Buchanan’s command as part of the Union army. On April 20th, 1861 they arrived at Galveston Bay and began garrisoning there until December 1862 when they were ordered to report to Fort Worth for duty under General Zachary Taylor. They served there until 1865 when they were discharged without honorable discharge because their term had expired. The 3rd Battalion (San Bernardino) National Guard Armory was established by order of President Grant on February 22nd, 1866 for use by units raised for service in California during the American Civil War including Companies D (San Bernardino), E (Loma Linda), F (Inglewood), G (Napa Valley) and H (Pasadena). It functioned from that date through 1880 when it became an armory operated by the Army Ordnance Department under control of Major General George Armstrong Custer who relieved Major General John J. Pershing who jurisdiction over all military armories within two million acres subject only to Quartermaster’s Regulations and general instructions issued from Washington D.C.. After World War I Armament production shifted from civilian hands into government hands under control of Bureau of Ordnance employees who renamed themselves bureau officials or agency officials beginning with World War II weapons development programs begun before Pearl Harbor called “War Production Board”; this included producing Victory Medals(1940-1945) also Navy ordnance such as torpedoes In 1942 a new armament manufacturing plant was built adjacent to Atchison Arsenal Kansas City Missouri known as KSMA Gun Industry Corporation which produced M1 Garands rifles using flat stock receivers machined entirely by hand except barrels which were cast using a dielectric forging process then finished off with a chrome plating process

Barstow, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It is located about an hour and a half north of Fresno and east of Bakersfield. The population was 6,337 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Barstow were Mormon pioneers who arrived there in 1847. A post office called Barstow had been established in 1853, but it was discontinued in 1861 because of the Gold Rush. The name "Barstow" originated with Captain John Sutter's mission to explore the lands around here in 1839- 1840. The town was platted on May 15, 1863 by J.D. Morse and Wm Fenton as part of a larger rancho grant from Governor Don José Cámpora y Ulloa to Antonio Nunez de la Peña y Costilla (1810-1876). The grant included present-day southeastern Fresno County and most of coastal Kern County including present day Barstow, Coalinga and Visalia Counties. In 1868 Charles Goodyear established his own rubber plantation near what is now downtown Barstow after finding several miles' worth of usable rubber soil at Sulpician Springs just south of where today's Sunoco station sits. Goodyear named his plantation "Goodyear" after his benefactor, William Humblegood Goodyear (1794-1866), one of England's richest men with interests in land development throughout much Of North America during the late 19th century before becoming one of American industry's main founders and investors such as Cyrus McCormick & Company.) Today many businesses operate within walking distance or close enough for freeway access: Starbucks Coffee; Chipotle Mexican Grill; Dunkin' Donuts; Subway sandwich shops; Fresh Market grocery store; Barnes & Noble bookstore chain; HP Pavilion computer store - all within two blocks or less away from downtown central business district (DBD) core commercial areas - making it easy to get around without any automobile traffic congestion! This bill marked a change not just for how national guardsmen functioned but also how America looked towards its militarized past – now these units came from states that either needed them or wanted them around because they felt threatened by rival Indian tribes or British forces stationed within their borders (the latter being especially true after John Quincy Adams became President in 1825).
