The history of the Beaumont Army National Guard began in 1879 when a group of citizens from Beaumont, California, decided to establish a military organization to protect the town. The first soldiers were drafted into the army in 1881 and served in various units until1896. In 1898, Beaumont voted to become an independent country and formed its own army. The new army was disbanded in 1899 but has been reactivated multiple times throughout the years. In 1942, the Beaumont Army National Guard was activated for World War II service and participated in combat operations against Nazi Germany. In 1949, the Beaumont Army National Guard discontinued its military operation but remains active today as a reserve force with provincial jurisdiction over all of Orange County.

However following the war's end many companies moved out or were bought out by larger companies such as Boeing/Douglas Aircraft Corp., Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Incorporated and Raytheon Co.. The present day economy relies on services such as health care providers Kaiser Permanente Health Care System, Mastercard CA etc.; agriculture; manufacturing; trade; transportation; tourism; local government services including fire protection and law enforcement. Beaumont has two primary shopping areas: North First Street which is home to several high-end stores including Neiman Marcus Outlet Center and Macy's Department Store, while South First Street contains more modest establishments such as GAP store and Family Dollar store among others. Beaumont is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 223 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of San Bernardino County's only municipality and the largest city in the county by area. Beaumont was founded on November 3, 1869 by George Beaumont and his wife Mary Jane McLaughlin. There were no other settlements within what is now Beaumont until after the Gold Rush when Rancho Cucamonga was established on November 17, 1849 by Colonel James Phelan and his brother Michael Phelan. The first post office in Beaumont opened on December 1, 1868. The town name was derived from Benjamin Franklin’s famous quote “blessed be the land where I live” because it would become one of America’s most important rail transportation hubs for goods arriving from Southern California goldfields during the late 19th century. The first store in town was built on Main Street and served as a mercantile center for local farmers and ranchers who transported their produce to market through Midway Station nearby. In 1893, entrepreneur Augustus De Witt Kelley developed what became known as "Kelley Park" which spanned much of what is now downtown Beaumont including much of today's First Hill shopping district and much of downtown's west side including its current skyline features. Kelley Park featured a grand ballroom/entertainment hall with a state-of-the-art theater system that included several feature films per week; also located there were two banks (First National Bank & Trust Company and Citizens National Bank), three grocery stores (Market Basket, Jiffy Lube,igmatic), two movie theaters (Beaumont Cinemas) as well as many additional businesses such as an ice cream parlor, laundry service, nurses' station, doctor's office etc... In 1907 gasoline stations started being built throughout town with convenience stores opening later onigation giving rise to some confusion about which "stores" belonged to which business districts - this led to more widespread labeling following City Council resolution No.(Civvie Resolution 6). After World War II growth recommenced but slowed due to low commodity prices; however growth resumed after petroleum shortages caused by OPEC embargo in 1973 catalyzed increased development around Interstate 10 east of town leading to new retail corridors such as First Hill Shopping District becoming popular among residents seeking escape from rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods adjacent I-10 corridor During this time period redevelopment effort called "Southwest Passage" focused attention away from major arterial streets near I-10 Old Town Square towards southeast corner of plaza bounded by Railroad Avenue (north), Interstate Highway 20 (southwest), Commerce Drive (east) resulting in increasedresidential density along arterial streets serving southwestern suburban communities annexed into Greater Los Angeles during succeeding decades . Additionally overpasses were constructed across Santa Ana River -- one atop Union Pacific Railroad tracks just south fronting downtown – making access into Downtown almost always possible via northbound I-10 or southbound US 101 freeway offering easy access both before and after rush hour traffic congestion then convenient walkability northward into Old Town Square thru Southwestern suburbs annexed into LA gulch housing developments emerged along original Business District alignment paralleling original route US 66 bypassing central business district
In 1849, the California Gold Rush began and soon led to large waves of immigrants. Many of these new arrivals were poor and uneducated, which caused tension between the groups. In 1851, a group of Beaumont men decided to form their own town in what is now Beaumont, California. The town was named after General Lafayette Beaumont who died during the Mexican-American War. The town quickly grew in population and became an important center for trade and commerce in southern California.
