Beaumont, California is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 31,821 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of San Luis Obispo County. Beaumont's history dates back to 1869 when it was part of Mexican land grant Rancho Cárdenas. The first post office in Beaumont was established in 1877. In 1915, Beaumont became an incorporated town under the name of Rancho Mirage. After World War II, Beaumont experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Pacific Beach and Watsonville. However, since the late 1980s Beaumont has been struggling with its economic stability and falling real estate prices have caused many businesses to close or relocate their operations to other nearby cities such as Santa Cruz and Monterey County.

Beaumont is a city in Imperial County, California, United States. The population was 25,636 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Beaumont-Port Arthur Bridge over the San Joaquin River. The first Europeans to visit Beaumont were Mexican traders and soldiers who traveled up the river in search of new routes to California in 1825. They named their small town Cananea after General Antonio José de Cananea y Costilla, Commander of Mexican Expedition against Alta California under Governor Manuel Micheltorena. In 1866, Captain John C. Fremont discovered gold near Beaumont while exploring the Trinity River Canyon and named it for him. In 1868, José Joaquín Herrera set out from Paso Robles with three men to explore what he thought was a shortcut to Stockton via the Sacramento River valley but found instead a route direct to Sacramento through Tubac Pass and northward over Mount Shasta into Central Valley country where he prospected for gold until his party was shipwrecked near Sutter's Mill on November 20, 1868. The city of Beaumont was founded by James Fenton on May 11, 1870 as an unincorporated community west of present-day downtown Beaumont when he platted 108 lots along Railroad Avenue east of US 95A (now FM 727) and built homes for himself and his families within one day’s time using local lumber that had been brought downriver by vessels bound for Southern California. It took another year before Fenton had developed enough transportation or water access to support more than 10 residents so he sold land adjoining Railroad Avenue south of Interstate 5 (now I-5) which became Boulevard Street today; Boulevard connected Fenton’s original plat with Junction City just upstream from today’s Mission Inn Hotel & Casino complex now known as “The Grand Ole Opry stars home” across Railroad Avenue from nowday's Dillard's department store). Fenton renamed his settlement "Beaumont" after Bishop George Bird Sumner whose summer home nearby had been used as a Methodist church since 1847 when it was known as Antioch Churchyard until its sale in 1865 to Jepson Knoppers who gave it back to Bird Sumner three years later when he donated it to the Methodist Episcopal Church at Red Bluff in Ventura County because they could no longer support him financially during their great drought years there due largely to rose bushes being eaten away by insects which affected not only flowers but also fruit trees producing mainly apples and pears resulting in prices skyrocketing between 1860-1865 ($2 per bushel $3-$4 per barrel compared then $0-$1 per bushel $2-$3 per barrel). So much so that birds stopped nesting at Antioch because they knew they would not be able to survive without reliable food sources other than seeds collected by early farmers trying unsuccessfully millennia ago some 12 miles south at Monterey Bay where oyster beds were abundant during late preindustrial times some 6 miles offshore off Point Conception about where US 9 crosses missions Creek nowdays . Consequently many large mammals such as lions stopped coming ashore during this era and though smaller game continuedFairbanks National Laboratory Ornithologist Dr.. Richard Eakin has documented significant changes in local bird populations since then (see link below ) . So much so that state game biologists determined recently that most if not all mammalian species formerly common here have likely moved out into more open areas adjacent or inside central California due mostly To These recent changes .) . Fenton never finished developing his enterprise nor did anyone else follow suit soon thereafter primarily because railroad development cutting off accessible lands directly east/west across town made farming impossible excepting isolated parcels leased from various property owners thereby maintaining farmland status quo well into this century barring modest efforts over last few decades spearheaded by Rotary Club members ."

Beaumont, California is a city in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 32,871 at the 2010 census. Beaumont was founded on November 6, 1879 by brothers George and Austin Beaumont. It is named after General Antonio José de Cano y Ortega y Gasset who fought in Mexico during the Mexican-American War and then became governor of Rancho San Pedro Cintra. The city has been through many changes over its history including becoming part of Imperial County in 1911 and then Californias most populous county with nearly 100,000 residents in 2002 before becoming an independent city again. The first people to live here were the Ohlone Indians who lived near what is now downtown Beaumont from about AD 1000 to 1475. Spanish traders came to be trade goods with the Ohlones in the early 1600s and began using this area as a military outpost against Native Americans such as the Klamath tribe. In 1769 Francisco Pico de la Hoz discovered land that would become Beaumont when he accidentally walked on it while exploring northern California between Monterey Bay and points east. He claimed all of what is now Northern California except for some small areas around Sacramento which remained under Spanish control until 1781 when Mexico gained independence from Spain following their war with England (the American Revolution). After independence, Mexico continued to control much of southern California while Spain controlled central California including Beaumont. In 1821 Juan Bautista Alvarado granted Rancho San Pedro Cintra to Manuel Nieto who subdivided it into sections for cattle ranching and farming purposes which led to development around what is today northwest corner of First Street east of Mission Avenue (now Willowbrook Boulevard), southwest corner of Second Street east of North Main Street, northeast corner of Fourth Street west of Pine Avenue (now West Broadway), northwest corner of Fifth Street southwesterly side thereof, southeast corner from First Streets intersection with Santa Clara River to northerly border line between Los Angeles County and Stanislaus County; these are called Sections 1-6; thence easterly along said border line 5 miles (8 km) unto Section 7 where post office was established; thence northerly upon said section boundary line ballast being carried 2 miles (3 km) up stream within said river channel past milepost 9 toward Lake Arrowhead reservoir; thence down stream past milepost 10 toward Sutter’s Millrace damGS
