The Bell Gardens Air Force Base has been a mainstay of the United States Military in Southern California for more than 60 years. The Bell Gardens base is home to the 388th Bomb Wing, which provides diverse airlift services for military and civilian populations throughout Northern California. The 388th Wing also operates two KC-135 Stratotankers that provide strategic aerial refueling support to other USAF wings and units. On 15 October 1947,Bell Aircraft Company inaugurated its new production line at the new airport in Bell Gardens. This facility was used to produce the Boeing 707 airliner and helped contribute to the growth of Los Angeles as an industrial center during the postwar period. Starting on 1 October 1949,Bell Aircraft Company produced Northrop Grumman Tomahawk cruise missiles from its factory in Seal Beach. These long range missiles were eventually replaced by several variants of Boeing 727-200 airplanes that provided airlift for Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991. In 1951,the Bell Aircraft Company moved permanently from their old plant at Seal Beach to what is now known as Terminal 3 at LaGuardia Airport after purchasing land adjacent to LaGuardia Airport for this purpose. From here, they manufactured jetliners such as the Boeing 747 and Douglas DC-8 while also continuing their missile production lineage with production of Northrop Grumman Tomahawks into the 21st century. In 1967,Bell Helicopter Corporation began manufacturing Helioscopters at Terminal 3 along with other helicopter manufacturer’s products such as Sikorsky HC-130s, MD helicopters and Hughes HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters among others

The USAF has an extensive network of bases and facilities throughout the world, which allow it to provide air defense services in both peacetime and wartime. The USAF also manufactures many types of aircraft, including fighter jets, bombers, trainers, missiles, and submarines.
The Bell Gardens Air Force Base Museum was founded in 1969 as the Military History and Heritage Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. In 1976, it became an independent museum with a collection of more than 1,500 items from the bell garden area including artifacts from local militaries, air force bases and civilian airports. The Military History and Heritage Division moved to its present location on the base in 1979. In 1990, the Air Force Base Museum began offering military identification tags for visitors to wear while at AFB. These tags allowed guests to remember their visit by wearing unique AFBMtags which could be seen by other AFB personnel and residents alike. In 1994, AFB museum opened its first gallery which showcased donated materials from various USAF installations around the country. This gallery is now known as "The Gallery of America". In 1997, AFB museum opened its second gallery which showcased donated materials from various USAF installations around the world. This gallery is now known as "The Gallery of The World". It also reopened its gift shop in 1999 which contains over 100 items relating to Bell Gardens history both past and present.
Bell Gardens, California is a city in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles and shares borders with Pasadena to the north, West Hollywood to the east, and Bel Air to the south. The Bell Gardens area was once part of what was known as Canoga Park. The name Canoga Park comes from "Canoga" (a type of tree), "Park" (a place where one would picnic or rest), and "Gardens" ( annexed territory near Universal City). The eastern boundary today is at Baldwin Avenue and Western Avenue. In 1892 when Bell Gardens became a city, it had only 1 resident. It functioned as an agricultural town until 1907 when it became an industrial center due to its location near Warner Bros.' Burbank studio lot. In 1912, Standard Oil purchased most of Burbank's land; this allowed for Bell Gardens' rapid growth in industry. In 1916, Burbank voters passed a referendum Charter amendment creating a new city government with two branches: an executive branch headed by Mayor Harry Siegel and a legislative branch chaired by Representative John Leland Beall that provided for social welfare programs such as public health clinics and free education for low-income children from pre-kindergarten through high school. In 1930s, many artists associated with Hollywood settled in Bell Gardens which led to its nickname "The Village". This period saw significant development around Echo Lake which also helped generate jobs in adjacent neighborhoods like Laurel Canyon and North Hollywood during this time period
Airforce gift history goes back to the days of World War II when airmen and enlisted personnel provided many unique and thoughtful gifts to their loved ones. One of the most famous Air Force gift histories is that of General Curtis LeMay, who gifted a number of beautiful jet fighters to his wife during World War II. Other notable Air Force Gift Histories include the donation by Admiral Chester Nimitz of ten Boeing B-29 Superfortresses to the USAF in 1948; and the gift from President George H.W. Bush of two McDonnell Douglas F-14 Tomcats to the USAF in 1989. Today, airmen and their families continue to provide meaningful gifts for friends, family members, and others across the military community through donations both large and small. Bell Gardens, California is a city in southern California on the border of Los Angeles and Orange County. The population was 61,711 at the 2010 census. It is surrounded by Mulholland Drive to the east, Lakewood Boulevard to the west, and Monterey Park Boulevard to the north. Bell Gardens was incorporated as a city on December 15, 1915. In 1923 it annexed parts of neighbouring Los Angeles and became one municipality with a total population of 129,000 people. On April 14, 1990 Bell Gardens merged with neighboring Westchester City to form a new city with an increased population of over 201,000 people. The name "Bell Gardens" comes from two places: one was in what is now downtown Los Angeles; another was within present-day boundaries of Pasadena. At that time Bell Telephone Company had their headquarters there and they wanted their name carried over into future telephone companies so they named their new city after them (i.e., "Pasadena"), which didn't have an existing post office called "Bell". A dedication service for the first bell ringing in Bell Gardens took place on September 17th 1919 by Mayor James MacArthur (1873-1948) using bells donated by various businesses in Pasadena including Harker's Drug Store and Wernham's Pharmacy near Western Avenue and Sherman Avenue
Bell Gardens was originally part of Rancho San Antonio Mexican land grant. The first settlers in the area were Spanish women and men who arrived around 1847. In 1854, John Sutter founded the city of Sacramento on his new rancho in nearby Colusa County. Some Bell Gardens residents came toSacramento to help during the gold rush. However, most of the early settlers returned home after a few years. However, because many people from Bell Gardens worked in Sacramento, it became known as "the City of Roses." In 1865, John Drysdale donated land for a school in what is now Bell Gardens. The school was open until 1906 when it closed due to financial problems. The next year, an oil well was drilled near what is now Downtown LA and although production stopped quickly because of high costs and environmental concerns (due to oil slicks), some people started calling Bell Gardens "Downtown LA's Little sister." A gas station was built in what is now downtown LA around this time too which helped further develop the area into an entertainment district today. In 1935, there was a fire at an amusement park on Doheny Avenue that destroyed much of the park and killed dozens of people including several children playing amidst the ruins- one account has it as being so bad that rain could not extinguish it even with buckets! This event would later inspire Disneyland's opening day parade
