In 1969 Maximilian Engelhardt passed away and his son Emanuel Engelhardt took over control of the business. Emanuel Engelhardt continued to produce high-quality coffees until his death in 1993. Today, the company is run by his grandson Lukas Engelhardt who also runs their retail stores throughout Southern California. Bell Gardens is a small city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 78,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Fernando Valley region and surrounded by La Brea Tar Pits to the east and west, Bell Gardens to the north and south, West Hollywood to the east and northwest, Sherman Oaks to the southeast, and Sylmar to the southwest. The name "Bell Gardens" comes from two sources: one attributed to Dr. John Smeaton who named a locality after his brother-in-law Edwin Epps; another said to come from an early settler's observation that in all directions there appeared "a beautiful garden." So called because only wild roses grew in abundance hereabouts (the bulbs being collected for potting), Bell Gardens began as a fashionable area for summer entertaining during 19th century America's Belle Époque period. The first post office was established at what is now Eastern Avenue in 1892. In 1896 voters decided on merging with neighboring West Hillsborough into one municipality; but this merger never happened because West Hillsborough wanted its own library while Bell Gardens desired an high school. In 1907 voters approved splitting off again as independent municipalities - this time with land at Eastern Ave., Westminster Ave., Hawthorne Blvd., Northglenn Rd./Mt Carmel Rd., Van Nuys Blvd./Thousand Oaks Blvd., Lankershim Blvd./Pinecrest Ln., & Glendale Heights/Ventura Highlands ranches annexed within it as well - forming today's Bell Gardens Municipality. Bell Gardens is a community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 30,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of theLos Angeles metropolitan area. The name "Bell Gardens" originated from Bell Telephone Laboratories on Crescent Road in Boyle Heights and refers to the large bell that graces one of the entrances of the research complex. The community was settled by people of European descent who worked in nearby Bell Laboratories. In 1910, when Bell Motors Corporation opened its new plant in what is now Garden Grove, residents were invited to move into a housing development called Glencoe which had been developed adjacent to the research center. However, by 1915 only 15 homes had been built and most residents lived on site at laboratories or in local businesses such as Sony Pictures Studios and National Broadcasting Company's Los Angeles studios. In 1927-28, with many local businesses gone and few new residents arrived, Mayor James Phelan created an emergency committee to consider developing land south of Bell Boulevard for a public park named after him which would serve as a neighborhood hub for all Southside Residents including Bell Gardensians as well as other areas around town that were underdeveloped or undeveloped because of concerns about auto traffic congestion caused by researchers conducting their experiments inside Motorola's factory campus adjacent to Highland Avenue. After much discussion and study led by Drs Clarence Hill (University of Southern California), Hiram Maxim ( Western Electric) and others on behalf of city fathers throughout southern LA., Parkland Avenue between Van Nuys Boulevard and Imperial Highway became Parkland Drive after Agreement was reached with representatives from several property owners who donated land near Russian Hill Cemetery off Center Street east of Union Station including Mrs John Wiegand (widower of Mr John Wiegand who donated land east of Union Station). A plaque marking this event can be found at Russian Hill Cemetery where Mrs Wiegand laid out her plot following her husband's death in 1922 On July 10th 1928 City Fathers voted 3-1 to purchase 315 acres surrounding Research Campus for $191,000 from Trustees thereof consisting principallyof Mr J P Kennedy (co-founder & Chairman Emeritusof AT&T) Messrs H M Maxim & Hiram Maxim john wiegand wife

The current collection of bells is made up of six bells from Bell & Howell ringing services conducted at the nearby Golden Gate Park on Sundays from 1951 to 1973 and 1984 to present; four bells from the original San Francisco Hospital; two bells from Candlestick Park (1925 and 1936), one each from AT&T Park (1996) and Levi's Stadium (2018); one each from Dodger Stadium (2007) and Marlins Park (2018).
