Bell Gardens, California is a city located in Los Angeles County, California on the border of Pasadena and Beverly Hills. As of the 2010 census, Bell Gardens had a population of 79,992. It is also home to The Grove music and entertainment complex. The first permanent settler in what would become Bell Gardens was Uriah Heep, who arrived in 1853 from England with his wife and two children. Uriah's brother-in-law George Sherman started a small store near present-day Western Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard in what is now Downtown LA. In 1857, Sherman bought land at 6451 Numbered Street from David Starr Jordan for $2 per acre. The location became known as "Sherman Heights." In 1865, John Cranch moved to Bell Gardens from Redondo Beach with his family following the American Civil War. In 1866 he purchased 8 acres (3 ha) on West 3rd Street between San Vicente Boulevard and Western Avenue for $200 ($ in ). This site became known as "Cranch Park". The first post office in Bell Gardens was established on May 12, 1870 by Major General Edward Payson Comstock with name "Redondo Beach" (it was changed to its current name on October 15th). In 1871 Gussie Moran opened a general store at 7041 Numbered Street which later became part of Sears Roebuck & Co.. The bell that announced the opening could be heard overSpring Valley until 1915 when it was replaced by an electric bell system operated by Southern Pacific Railroad employees under contract through the Bell Telephone Company. On November 10th 1890 Lillie Belle Bennett married Arthur Waddell at Sacred Heart Cathedral after they had met while both were students at UCLA; they soon set up house together on North Hill Drive east of present day Indian Wells Road north of Koreatown. From 1889 until her death in 1907 she published eight newsletters called "The Belle Benders' Weekly Journal"containing pieces about life inside and outside their home including recipes for their famous chicken Kievs served during dinner time - these dishes are still popular today! She is credited with being one of the earliest women to own property within Los Angeles proper... during her lifetime she acquired more than 6000 square feet (500 m²) worth of property within downtown LA's limits! By 1910 she owned more than 9000 sq ft (750 m²) within city limits! Her husband died three years later leaving her alone on top... but this didn't stop her from continuing publishing her journal into World War I! After his death she continued publishing until 1923 when it finally stopped becauseHandlebar McGovern took over production/publishing duties for AT&T Wireless Communications Corporation which renamed itself AT&T Incorporated... handlebar sold his share back to Lillie Belle Bennett before retiring from business altogether in 1951

Bell Gardens is a small town in Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the border of Sherman Oaks and Echo Park. The population was 43,851 at the 2010 census. Bell Gardens was first settled in 1887 by Italian immigrants. It was incorporated as a city on December 5, 1912. On January 15, 1994, Bell Gardens voters approved an ordinance creating a charter school district. The city's charter expired on September 30, 1998; however, it remains part of the City of Los Angeles public school system. The history of Bell Gardens goes back to 1887 when Italian immigrants arrived in wagon trains from Northern Italy to start anew in what is now Southern California. Many families built homes and businesses near where they lived until about 1940 when many residents moved out because of WWII military service or moving prices for land near Hollywood Hills became too expensive following World War II boom times. In 1912, after years of planning and organizing by Mayor John Ahern and his wife Jennie Dee Ahern-Ahern (née Fitzpatrick), bell gardens became an official city with its own police department and fire department under the leadership of George Larkin who served as mayor from 1922 to 1928 then 1932–1938 Vacant position On January 15th1994 the citizens of bell gardens voted 3-2 to form their own Charter School District which still exists today
Bell Gardens was founded on April 12, 1887 by Dr. George Washington Hill and his wife Anna. The original land was donated by Mrs. Hill to the city of Los Angeles in order to create a park that would be open to the public. The first park, formed around an acre square, consisted of only one street corner and a few trees. However, Bell Gardens quickly became a popular spot for residents and visitors to enjoy the fresh air, lawns, and beautiful gardens. In 1923, Dr. Hill donated another acre of land to the city in order to create what is now Koreatown. This area soon became home to many Japanese Americans who had fled World War II because of their concerns about America's war effort. In 1951, Bell Gardens was renamed after its original benefactor – Dr. George Washington Hill – in order to more accurately reflect his donation’s purpose (to improve public health). In 1993, Bell Gardens underwent a $50 million renovation which included new infrastructure such as an open-air pool and a new sports stadium called “Theumpit Park” which currently houses the LA Kings hockey team
