Bell Gardens is a city located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 83,819 at the 2010 census. It is the third most populous city in Los Angeles County after Los Angeles and Hermosa Beach. The Bell Gardens area first grew up around two small vineyards that were part of Rancho La Brea Adobe property in 1887. In 1907, local businessman John Sutter bought the wineyard and began to farmed grapes there until his death in 1924. Grapes continued to be grown here until Prohibition ended in 1933. After Prohibition, a number of people moved into the area because it was still mostly rural and had no commercial amenities. However, many businesses failed during this time and Bell Gardens became an agricultural town with few streets or public services. In the early 1960s, developer Abe Pollin started construction on what would become one of the most prominent shopping districts in Los Angeles – Koreatown – and wanted to include a mall next to his theater complex called Regal (now Century City). However, when Pollin's project collapsed due to lack of financing, he decided to build instead another mall just east of Koreatown called Philco Center which opened in 1967. This led to increased traffic congestion around Koreatown so Pollin built a second mall adjacent to it – Polo Grounds – which opened in 1971. Despite these failures, Pollin's son Ron remains one of Bell Gardens' most popular developers today with several high-profile projects including renovation of Recreation Park (2008), demolition of old Philco Center (2010), and reclamation for new homes for the elderly Buena Vista Village community (2013). However, Ron Pollin's children have been less successful as investors; their latest venture is developing an amusement park called Kings Dominion near downtown LA Airport that has not yet gone ahead despite being approved by City Council but has faced opposition from nearby residents who argue that development would create more traffic congestion on airport property already saturated with passengers!

Bell Gardens is a small city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 23,541 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles and bordered by Bell Gardens to the north and west, Westchester Park to the east, North Hollywood to the south and Carson City to the northwest. The area now occupied by Bell Gardens was first settled by Mexicans in 1871. The name "Bell" comes from two Indian words: bella meaning beautiful or lovely and gardens meaning green space or garden. The city of Bell Gardens was incorporated on November 6, 1915. On May 15, 1932, it merged with neighboring Brentwood into one municipality. On July 1, 1954 it became an independent city again under its own administration with a mayor and council members appointed directly from residents rather than elected at-large like those in Brentwood. The city has experienced many changes since its incorporation; it has been annexed by other municipalities (Richland Hills annexation in 1957; Glendale annexation in 1988), changed its name multiple times (to Alpine Heights 1955; Riverdale Heights 1975; South Pasadena 1984), experienced several fires (including one that destroyed much of downtown in 1978), and most recently lost its charter due to low voter turnout (it re-appeared as an unincorporated community after being revoked). But despite these challenges, Bell Gardens has maintained some key characteristics including a restrictive housing policy which forbids development near schools or playgrounds; a strong focus on arts and cultural events both inside and outside of town hall; easy access to public transportation for locals and visitors alike; tight budgeting which allows for quality services without sacrificing funding for important municipal priorities such as parks/parking garage maintenance or streetlights/pavement repairs
