As the Bell Air Force Base community celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, it is important to remember the air force's deployment history here. The base has been home to various branches of the military for many years and has played a significant role in American society. One of the most memorable deployments was during World War II when Bell was used as a training ground for pilots from all over America. In 1947, Bell began serving as an operational headquarters for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAF/E). Inactivated in 1951, USAF/E was reactivated in 1959 and became a subordinate command of US Strategic Command. With that change came increased responsibilities for the base and its population grew rapidly. Today, Bell Air Force Base is one of nine activated USAF bases worldwide and provides space science research, air refueling capabilities, electronic warfare operations, nuclear weapons storage and disposal services and other security functions. One of AFB's most iconic attractions is its "Hornet" fighter squadron which flew Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft during World War II. The squadron relocated to RAF Bentwaters Island in England after Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 where they trained under Noelle Askew Ritchie before flying their first combat mission against Japan on 14 February 1942. After returning home to George Street at Perth Airport on 10 May 1945 they disbanded on 31 August 1945 with all but one aircraft returned home safely! During 1997-2001 there was a project named "Bell Centennial Celebration: A History of BellAirForceBase." This involved digitizing archived materials from both local newspapers and online sources as well as creating digital exhibits including archival photos, historical videos, articles etc., makingBellAirForceBase one of only a few military installations around North America that have such comprehensive coverage!

The first recorded reference to Bell comes from November 22, 1848 when Mexican soldiers were quartered near what is now downtown Bell. A post office was established there on January 15, 1850. The City of Bell was incorporated on December 21, 1875. During World War II, General George Custer's cavalry brigade halted at Fort Tejon during their march through central California and stopped for lunch at the Hotel Laurel Springs on July 14th and 15th of 1918. On July 4th 1915 an attack by 100 white supremacists led by Eugene Debs took place outside of town; five people were killed and twenty-one others injured including four officers of the police department who were tried later that year after Debs moved out of state but before they could be sentenced. They were acquitted due to lack of evidence though some reports allege they used a Confederate flag as bait to draw attention to themselves while masked men looted several businesses nearby

Bell is a small town located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 6,568 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Occidental College and the belltower of St. John's Episcopal Church, which still remain one of the tallest churches in America. The first settlement in what is now Bell was made by Captain John Crespi and his men on November 7, 1827 when they landed on the present day bank of Truckee River after travelling down from Solano County. Bell's growth as a small town began with a single store opened in 1868 by James Aitken and his wife Sarah Schmittert Aitken. By 1875, there were 10 businesses inbell with a population of over 100 people. In 1886, local citizens voted to annex what are today Tulare and Kern counties into San Bernardino County for political reasons related to growing pains within county limits; however, annexation did not take place until 1889 because some residents wanted to keep their independent identity. In 1898, George Waddell founded Waddell Instrument Company which became one of the biggest employers in Bell when it started making radios and other electronics products under the name Western Electric Corporation (WE). In 1941-1942 during World War II Bell played an important role as headquarters for Japanese forces stationed in Southern California due to wartime production shortages caused byAmerican involvement in Europe while most other American companies boycotted Japan because of its Imperialistic policies. After World War II ended both local business operations ended as well but new industry has sprung up around bell such as healthcare services and technology firms such as Intel Capital Management LLC based out of Santa Clara Valley Regional Center (now known as Google I/O) where co-founder Sergey Brin met his wifeat Bell Labs years later! TodayBell remains an important community with strong economic ties to nearby Tulare and Kern Counties despite its shrinking population size due largely to retirements or conversion into residential areas outside of town limits since 1990s although recent efforts have been made to revive agriculture within town limits through support for local farmers markets
