The Bellarmine Military Academy, now known as the San Francisco State University School of Theology, was founded in 1868 by Father George Ryan. It originally served as a military academy for Catholic boys from the areas around San Francisco. In 1928, it became an all-male institution and began admitting girls. In 1942, the school became part of the United States Army War College and was renamed San Francisco State University School of Theology. During World War II, the school enrolls servicemen from throughout California and Nevada. Between 1951 and 1959, it also became a graduate school for theology. In 1969, SFSU opened its first women's dormitory and in 1978 it became one of only two institutions in California to offer graduate degrees in theology (the other being UC Berkeley). In 1992-1993 SFSU opened its second dormitory which housed female students along with male students on "strictly coeducational" basis until their expulsion in 1997 following a court case brought by then-President William Clinton against then-School Chancellor Dianne Feinstein over her opposition to non-heterosexual student housing at the college. The university closed its third dormitory after 15 years due to budget cuts that impacted many higher education institutions across California at that time. Since 1996 when SFSU reorganized under a new name - Mission College - there has been considerable growth at the college with more than 30% increase in enrollment every year since 2008 alone; making MCC one of Bellarmine's fastest growing educational institutions.

The Bellarmine Cavalry Regiment was organized on December 15, 1851 in San Bernardino County, California. The regiment's first Cavalry unit was raised on January 12, 1852 at the home of Captain John H. Morton and First Lieutenant James M. Daly. The regiment was mustered into service on February 10th and fought in the Mexican-American War from April to September of 1846 as part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 3rd Corps under General Ignacio López de Santa Anna. On September 14th, 1846 General Santa Anna ordered his brigade to withdraw to Baja California because he felt that he could not win a war against an army led by Ulysses S. Grant with only artillery support. On October 8th Colonel John Peele rode his horse up to General Santa Anna's tent and announced that there were more men available for duty in California than he had expected and that they should march north immediately without further ado. This order caused great excitement within the cavalry regiment because it meant that they would no longer be fighting in Mexico but instead would be fighting alongside their American friends against Grant’s forces. On November 17th Colonel Peele rode back into camp and reported that there were now over 1,000 men available for duty in California and that they should march northeast towards Monterey before winter set in. The cavalry regiment marched northeast through difficult terrain until they reached Monterey on December 5th where they took up quarters at the old Fort Donner barracks while preparations were made to open hostilities with Grant’s army next spring. In March of 1850 Colonel Peele resigned his commission due to health reasons and became a member of the Board of Regents for University of Southern California which later became known as UCLA.[1] In 1865 he served as Chancellor emeritus at UCLA[2].
Bell is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population of the city was 74,569 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest incorporated municipality in California and one of the most thinly populated cities in the United States. The first European to visit what is now Bell was Lieutenant John C. Fremont on October 17, 1847 while exploring what are now Southern California for the United States Army. At that time it was part of Mexico and it took him until November 27, 1847 to route overland from New Mexico to here finally reaching Bell on December 6th after ten days’ travel across rugged country. In 1850 when California became a U.S. state,Bell became its capital and remained so until 1893 when Sacramento became its capital again. In January 1861 during Mexican-American War Governor Pio Pico designated Bell as an important military post on his march past this area towards Yuma River Valley; it served as a winter encampment for Confederate forces under General Andy Johnson throughout 1862 and 1863 before falling into Union hands December 10th 1863 near present day Cathedral City During World War II many people fromBell worked in local munitions plants including those located at Rohnert Park and Northridge which were main contributors to American victory overseas

Bell is a small community in the San Joaquin Valley of California, located about 80 miles east of Fresno. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. The first white person to sight what is now Bell was Juan Bautista de Anza on March 20, 1769. He named it after Viceroy Manuel Noriega's brother Antonio Nieto who had been killed in an altercation with Native Americans near present-day Fresno. The town was platted and erected a charter on July 11, 1852 by James Hahn as one of the original towns in Kern County. In 1860, John Sutter and his men discovered gold near what is now Oroville and began mining for gold in the area; this started a significant industry that continues today. In 1868, Chas. Kapp founded the first post office in Bell; it continued operations until 1906 when it became part of Sacramento. In 1903, Standard Oil built its largest refinery outside of Ohio at Oroville Lake; this allowed for commodity prices to be controlled locally and helped spur economic growth throughout the region. In 1907–1908, drillers struck oil wells around present-day Oroville and Donahue Lakes (now just south of State Route 99), which caused production to increase rapidly and led to increased demand for water from local farmers; this also contributed to rapid growth in agricultural activity in belltown during this time period. This period saw many technological advances including: electric lighting by Edison within two years; automatic streetlights by Arup within ten years; Consolidated Telephone Company brought telephone service into Belltown through their new line from Fresno; world's first personal computer – Apple II – introduced into market place by Microsoft on April 1st 1984 ; commercial air travel started with Pan American World Airways flying out of Oakland International Airport (now unincorporated parts of Livermore) on December 15th 1941 ; all these innovations led to increased productivity within businesses throughout belltown during that time period
The first post office in Bell, California was established on December 12, 1892. The name of the town was at first given to a place called Bear Valley because of the abundance of bearberries that were found there.
