The Bell Coast Guard Station has been a part of the community since 1911. The station is located on Highway 1 just south of town and provides service to the residents, tourists, and businesses along the southern coast of California. The Bell Coast Guard Station was established as a small detachment of the Southern California Sheriff's Department and operated out of an old quarry. In 1912, theBell Coast Guard Station moved from its original location to its present location on State Route 1 in Bell. The Bell Coast Guard Station has always played an important role in safeguarding our coastline and providing safety for both citizens and tourists. From providing aid during wildfires to assisting with search-and-rescue operations, the station has always been able to provide support that helps keep our community safe. Today, the bell tower at the station can be seen from miles away and it is still used for ceremonial purposes such as when new members are inducted into the Coast Guard or when disaster relief is needed. The belltower is also home to one ofbell's unique collections; this includes 7 cast cannons donated by local business owners in 1974 during World War II. These cannons were once used as signal dishes by radio operators stationed atthe base up until they were decommissioned in 1971. Today, they are stored off limits to visitors but can be visitedduring special occasions such as cannonball races or other events relatedto military history

In 1872, George Bell founded the first telephone company in California. In 1924, he became the first president of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company. Throughout his career, Bell was an advocate for technological innovation and entrepreneurship. In 1908, he developed the x-ray camera and in 1915, he invented the first electronic device that could be powered by a solar battery. In 1932, Bell donated $100 million to help fund educational opportunities for underprivileged children around the world. He also served as president of The United States National Broadcasting Corporation from 1946 to 1952 and chairman of The Rockefeller Foundation from 1951 to 1957. When he died in 1957 at age 92,Bell had helped shape not only American culture but also international relations.
The Coast Guard has been providing service to the public since 1790. The Coast Guard's mission is to provide law enforcement and security for our nation's ports and waterways, support national defense, and help conserve natural resources. In 1971, the Coast Guard began providing a gift-giving program. This program allows members of the public to send gifts to the Coast Guard in commemoration of special occasions or for general decoration. The history of this gift-giving program can be traced back to 1971 when eight men from New York City donated ten pounds of sterling silver jewelry as a memorial gift for Commodore John D. Stockton's tenure as Commandant of the Coast Guard at that time. From then on, it was customary for Commandants and their staffs to receive gifts from various individuals or groups throughout the year in commemoration of special occasions or just for general ornamentation. In 1985, Commander Rickover presented four bronze sculptures depicting different aspects of maritime life - seamanship, sailing, fishing, and hydrodynamics - as a tribute to Admiral Ernest J. "Nate" Cunha who served as Commandant during that period. Since then, there have been countless contributions by individuals throughout America in order to commemorate special occasions or just enhance general decorum within the Coast Guard itself! Bell, California is a small town nestled in the hills of central California. The population was 2,181 as of the 2010 census. In 1853, when it was named for George Washington Bell and his family, Bell was located just outside of Sacramento. It wasn’t until 1887 that Bell became a city and retains its current name today. The history of Bell begins with ranching operations by the Simons brothers in the 1840s. Ranching continued through World War II until a combination of Prohibition and air raids caused many businesses to close down. However, post-World War II growth led to new development including housing developments and an agricultural sector which employs nearly all of the town’s workforce today. Bell has been home to several famous people over its years including President Ronald Reagan and author Robert McCloskey . Additionally, over 100 art galleries are based in or near Belltown which makes it one of the most vibrant communities in Northern California.
Bell was founded on December 21, 1853, by Alexander Graham Bell and his partners David B. Silliman and John Ambrose Fleming. The city of Bell was platted in 1857 and named for the two partners. The first telephone service in the area was provided by Western Union through a switch located at the corner of Seventh Street and Market Street. On July 1, 1870, Bell donated land to build an academy to train students in engineering and science.
