The Bell Marine Museum has been providing maritime gift history in the heart of downtown Bell since 1978. Our collection of nearly 2,000 items spans over a wide range of vessels, objects, and events that have shaped the Bell marine industry. Bell, California is a city located in Mono County, California on the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,249. The Bell Hills community is within Bell City Limits and includes most of what is now downtown Bell. The city was named for John D. Rockefeller Jr., who founded Standard Oil Company in 1887 in nearby Youngstown, Ohio. The first post office opened in 1869, and by 1880 there were 24 settlements in Mono County with a population of around 100 people each. By 1890 there were over 1,000 residents living in Bell City Limits alone and by 1900 it had grown to 2,500 people. John D. Rockefeller Sr.'s Standard Oil Company began production at the Youngstown refinery in 1901 and soon became one of America's leading oil companies thanks to its years of exploration and development along the Sierras. In 1906 Rockefeller founded Chase National Bank which became one of America's largest banks before his death ten years later aged 72 years old. In 1911 John D'Angelo Warner moved from Reno to Bell with his wife Alma to take up farming after leaving his previous job as an advertising executive for Hearst Corporation (now Time Warner). He started a hardware store called The Hardware Store on Union Street which continued until 1951 when it closed due to economic decline; that same year he also built The Catholic Cathedral across from town hall which still stands today (the belltower was destroyed during World War II). In 1935 Warner donated land next door to his store for use as an airport; today it is known as Chico Airport. A new bell tower was completed at Stritch Park High School just east of town center in 1954-an event often remembered because two astronauts named Neil Armstrong visited during their historic visit to Palmdale Municipal Airport on July 20th 1969-one day after they landed at White Sands Missile Range near Hollister AFB; upon their return home they announced that they had discovered "the" plutonium core from Hiroshima! Today the building housing kindergarten through 8th grade remains standing adjacent to Chico Airport while new classrooms are being erected on adjacent property leased from Fresno Unified School District

Bell, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 67,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Bell were Mexican traders and their Indian partners who arrived in 1821 as part of the Mexican Alta California expedition led by Captain Gabriel Moraga. They named the outpost "Nueva Veta" (New settlement). The town had two stores and 12 homes when it was founded on December 17, 1825 by Nicholas Burt and his partner John Sutter. A post office called Nueva Veta was established at the site on February 14, 1827; it operated until May 4, 1868 when it became Bell. In 1850, gold was discovered along US 10 east of present-day Bell for which Californians began building hotels to accommodate miners seeking greater riches than could be found outside of Mexico City. In 1860SBurney founded an oil refinery and pipeline system that transported oil from Kern County to Los Angeles through San Diego County and into Southern California; this encouraged further migration of families to Bell from all over Northern California. By 1870 there were over 100 businesses operating in Belltown with a population of 575 people. In 1870, Samuel Morse developed a wireless telegraphy system between Sacramento and San Francisco using volunteer soldiers under General Antonio Lomas during the American Civil War; this technology helped make possible wide horizons for communication across long distances without prior arrangements or expensive wired systems such as those used in Europe at that time. In 1886 president Grover Cleveland issued a presidential proclamation creating county government within San Bernardino County; this did not take effect until 1893 because only land owning white men could vote at that time within San Bernardino County limits – an issue which would continue to be unresolved until after World War II when African Americans became registered citizens has full Voting rights within most major U .S . counties
Bell was founded in 1876 as a small community on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The city of Los Angeles was founded in 1847 and by 1860, Bell had become the largest town in California. The population of Bell increased to over 10,000 by 1880, but it declined after the opening of the Santa Fe Railway. The town unsuccessfully attempted to get its own mail service in 1888 and 1889. In 1902, Bell merged with neighboring Rancho Seco and became known as Rancho San Rafael. In 1915, the towns split again when Rancho Seco seceded from California and formed their own state, Nevada. However, they rejoined California in 1934 when they were re-established within the new state of California. The population of Rancho San Rafael increased to over 15,000 by 1940 but declined again after World War II because there was no agricultural production in those areas during that time period. After 1945 there wasn't enough demand for housing so much as there was for goods produced outside of agriculture such as cars and appliances which made up most of rancho's economic activity until the late 1970s when it began to decline again due to dwindling resources
