Bellflower, California is a town in the southern portion of Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the east side of Bellflower Boulevard and adjacent to Echo Park. The population was 26,605 at the 2010 census. The first coffee beans were roasted in 1894 by Antonio Mexicano and Ettore Benedetti in what is now Bellflower Boulevard. The name "Bellflower" comes from its location just north of Bel-Air and east of LaBrea Avenue. In 1915, the Juan María Gomez Coffee Company began growing coffee in what is now known as Eastside Plaza across from Liberty High School. By 1925, there were over 50 coffee houses in Bellflower with an average of 10 customers per house! In 1962, Don Freeman purchased a small parcel of land between Echo Park Road and Westwood Drive which became known as Freeman's Garden. He started growing Arabica beans for Fidelity Coffee Company and soon realized that he had found his niche – quality Arabica beans for his customers' espresso drinks! At Freeman's Garden, you can still find high-quality Arabica beans today! Today, Bellflower is a vibrant town with many businesses & restaurants including two Starbucks locations (one inside City Hall) as well as several local farmers markets throughout the week! In that year, two Bellflower businessmen, Wm. P. Casey and George Atanasoff founded the Atanasoff–Casey Coffee Company in what is now Downtown Bellflower. The company became one of the largest coffee producers in Southern California and exported its products to many countries around the world.
Bellflower, California is a small town located in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 1,864 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno–Madera, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Bellflower" originated from the wildflowers that grew in and around Bellflower Creek. Today, many of the same wildflowers can be found throughout the community, including daisies, violets, and snowdrops. The first settler in what is now Bellflower was John Cramer in 1848. Others who started here included Alexander McNaught and Isabella Wright Howe in 1860. The first post office was established in 1868; it was renamed for General George Armstrong Custer soon after his death in 1863 during the Mexican-American War (1846-1847). In 1905, a dam was built across Bellflower Creek to provide water for irrigation purposes; however, this did not stop later settlers from growing flowers such as chrysanthemums and daffodils here. In 1916 an additional dam was built to help with flood control purposes; however, this didn't stop later settlers from growing flowers such as belladonna and narcissus here either. Today's economy relies heavily on agriculture; crops include cotton (the most common), sunflowers (which are used for dyeing fabrics blue or other colors), tomatoes (for tomato sauce or jams), onions (which are used for cooking or salads), grapes (!), almonds (!), strawberries (!), apricots (!/?), peas (!/?)--all of which are grown using large monocrop systems called hydroponics systems.

Bellflower, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kern City Unified School District. The community is named after John Sutter, an early settler who made his home here in 1849-50. The first post office in what is now Bellflower opened on October 15, 1875. The name of the town was changed to honor Edward Everett Hutton on April 6, 1907. A fire destroyed most of the town on February 14th, 1908 and it never regained its previous population size. Today much of Bellflower’s economy comes from agriculture and animal husbandry; however, there are also some smaller businesses that provide services such as construction and plumbing. There are also a few restaurants and cafes in the area which offer a variety of dishes from around the world including Mexican food to international cuisine items like Thai curries. One interesting aspect about this small community is that almost all of its residents were born within one kilometer (2 miles) of each other – making it one of the youngest towns east of Sacramento when it first formed in 1895.
