The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Belmont, California in 1954. The gift was an 8-seat Cessna 182 helicopter. This helicopter became known as the "Belmont Belle". It served as an air transport for the United States Air Force for many years.

Belmont Air Force Base is home to the Belmont Air National Guard's 185th Airlift Wing. The wing provides airlift support for military and civilian missions in the San Joaquin Valley, Southern California and Nevada. The 185th Airlift Wing was founded on 1 October 1947 as the Army Reserve Command's 144th Airlift Squadron. It was redesignated on 1 January 1949 as the 184th Aviation Regiment and activated at Fort Ord, California. It was assigned to First Air Force, Regional Command Southwest Pacific. Inactivated on 31 December 1957. It reformed on 20 September 1960 as an independent unit with its current name when it received its first Boeing 727-200 aircraft from the Boeing Aircraft Company for operations with Tactical Air Command (TAC). On 15 May 1966 it took delivery of its first McDonnell Douglas DC-7A jetliner for use by TAC's 9th Bombardment Wing (9 BW) located at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska which had been transferred from Ninth Air Force. On 3 February 1968, Belmont became a subordinate command of Igloo AFB when that base became operational under Continental United States ArmyCommand (CENTCOM). The 4400th Expeditionary Airlift Group arrived at Igloo in early 1969 and began providing lift services to both CENTCOM headquarters and Operation Desert Storm while also conducting joint exercises with USAF units involved in that war including Fighter Squadron 124 (FSU-124) flying F-4E Phantoms from Northrop Grumman Ground Systems Division Inc., Long Beach CA; Electronic warfare squadron - 342nd Troop Carrier Wing based at El Paso TX; Headquarters Security Brigade detachment - 514th Military Police Battalion stationed at Beeville TX; helicopter squadron - 512nd Helicopter Squadron flying DoD HH-60Hs based out of Pope AFB FL; and Headquarters Detachment - 336th Maintenance Squadron based out of Redondo Beach CA.)
Belmont, California is located in the San Bernardino Mountains and it has a population of over 30,000 residents. The area was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. In 1859, John C. Fremont explored the area and named it after his horse, Belmont. The town was founded on January 1, 1861, when a group of settlers from San Francisco came overland to survey the land they had just acquired east of Redwood City. By 1865, Belmont had a school and a post office. The town quickly grew into an agricultural community with dairy operations and cotton plantations being its mainstay economy until World War II when industry took hold. During that time, Belmont became known for its Boeing planes manufacturing plants and other heavy machinery production facilities. In recent years, however, Belmont has seen growth as a bedroom community for San Bernardino County and occasional tourist attraction for Northern California residents looking to experience some of the best scenery in all of America without leaving their home state or region.

Belmont is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 5,089 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley east of Fresno and south of Bakersfield. The first Europeans to visit Belmont were Jedediah Smith and his party in 1814 and 1817. A post office called Belmont was established in 1827, and the town became a county seat in 1850. The townsite was given to the people of Belmont by John Sutter during their famous Donation Land Claim Sale in 1849. Belmont's economy has been based on agriculture for most of its history; however, it now has a significant residential population as well as professional and technical services businesses. Manufacturing also plays an important role in the community's economy. Agriculture have declined significantly since 2000 while industry has grown rapidly due to new transportation links connecting Northern California with Southern Mexico and Asia through Highway 101.
Belmont was founded in 1800 by Manuel Nieto and others as a small Mexican settlement. By 1821, it had become an American town. It was incorporated as a town in 1892. The population of Belmont peaked at 25,000 in 1920, but declined to 15,000 by 1930. The town merged with the neighboring city of Rocklin in 1951.
